this is my favorite beer bar along with the blind tiger. Joe and the crew are very helpful, they will slice up a top notch cheese & cured meat plate for you, and the decor is super cool. there are map and anotomy charts like they used to have in grade school, funky ashtray collections, etc. above average jukebox tunes (itís so hard to beat the Khyber Pass in Philly). tap beer selection is tits up, and itís fresher than ever b/c NYCís best tap line cleaner Andy is a regular. crowd is williamsburg folk who wonít laugh at you if you didnt buy all your clothes at Beaconís Closet.
Would like to go more often, but it is a hike out to Brooklyn. Some great beers frequent this bar, rare bottle list can be expensive. Events are worth going to if you have the cash.
Need to revisit, but i enjoy this more than I used to.
Quite disappointing to be honest. Run down place with only six taps. None of them very exciting when we visited. Guess it was good before the beer scene exploded in NYC. No reason to go here again in my opinion.
This bar has a good vibe, and a very friendly bartender, who knows his beers. But if I wanted some Freigeist, I didnít have to come to the US. Selection in here was very dissapointing. The beers really werenít my style. Very expensive as well. We got out quick. Wouldnít go back.
Iíve missed it the first time, walked right past it. There is no sign outside so itís easy to overlook. Itís a pretty small place, but nicely decorated, feels cozy. Very nice backyard patio, feels bit magical like youíre not in NYC. Tap selection is limited to 6 taps, emphasis on Belgian and European beer styles. Same thing with bottle selection which is quite pricey. Service could be better, not the kindest people behind the bar. No WiFi. Considering it has such a high score on RB Iíve expected a bit more. However there are interesting brews on tap and itís a pleasant place. Worth visiting, but donít expect too much.
