Visited on 3rd December 2016. A lovely old traditional pub, central island bar, plenty of seating and decent decor, sat with a pint and watched some of the England v Australia rugger on TV. The cask beer list is on a chalkboard but had a considerable battering as the beer range had changed, a good mix of cask beers from across the UK, mostly from decently rated Brewers. Service was good despite pub being busy, quality good and decent prices. A good traditional boozer and around the corner from Hippo so worth a look in.

Best pub in Glasgow, for me anyway, I never fail to visit at least once whilst I am in the city. Agreeable old school tavern with a circular bar, the beers are usually sourced from local Scottish microbreweries. My pints of Rise n Shine milk stout were superb and very sensibly priced, remember that there is a Wetherspoons across the street.

Traditional pub which was really crowded the evening we’ve paid a visit. Not extensive selection of casks, but among them there were some good brews. Not a bad place to stop for a pint.

This is a top, top pub in Glasgow. CAMRA pub of the year 2012 and 2014 you know it’s going to be good. They regularly get special beers from Oakham and Fyne Ales (plus others) which makes it a real destination.

The State is located but a couple of minutes walk East from the Bon Accord bar. It is a very traditional looking boozer with a central island bar. Has a good local feel to it. They offer a small, but interesting range of cask ale - both Scottish & English. On my visit they had a double IPA and a black saison, which were not too shabby at all. Service was prompt and friendly. A worthy stop on anyones pub crawl in Glasgow.

Welcoming pub atmosphere with different kind of people flocked around a large island bar with a few sets of cask ales, all together seven different hand-pumps, including a house beer from Houston. A stylish and likable pub, very busy and joyful late on a Friday afternoon. (visited 13.04.2012).
To sum up my pub crawls in Glasgow: A ratebeerian should definitely do the JDW crawl – no other town has got so many Wetherspoons as Glasgow, I guess. If not that interesting, the two brewpubs, West and Clockwork, are worth a visit. My best list would be 1)BrewDog Bar 2) Bon Accord 3) Three Judges 4) Bruadar and this one – 5) the State Bar.

Not the best selection of beer, but has good service and a lovely big oval bar. Has a lot of TVs so might be a good place to watch sports.

Old looking ale house. Small sittingplaces. A bit too sportminded and unsocial. Selection is not that outspoken.
