This is one of my favorite places to visit for beer in San Diego. Given the selection around here that’s saying something. I love the whole gigantic open air seating area, which is great even in winter. They have natural gas heating to keep you warm if needed. The food is excellent, and Stone beers are always top notch.
This is probably the best beer-related place I have been to. Big place with seats and a bar both indoors and outdoors. 30+ taps with excellent beers. I visited three times in six days, and there were 2-3 new beers from Stone every time. I think I added six or seven beers to ratebeer, thats says something about the rotation on the taps. Great guest beers on tap as well and all the taps are available in tasters. A shop for bottles and souvernirs close to the bar, with a small but hugely interesting selecetion of rare Stone-beers. Service is really good and food was very tasty every time. Interior is beautiful and must have cost a fortune. Only setback is that I dont live near it...
The original review I wrote was whipped because of length and I couldn’t get it back. Here’s my 2nd try...
I have been to many many brewpubs, as I am in the travel business and have been a home-brewer from a home-brewing family for nearly 25 yrs.
This is the highest rating for me, for brewpubs so far.
Ambiance is awesome: take your pick as they have something in every category.
Service was without question incredible; i.e. no need not attended to.
Except for the incredibly odd and delightful bathrooms (yes you have to see it to believe it), I was always offered immediate assistance for my brewpub needs.
The selection changes constantly with the sheer volume of numbers, but in no way was I disappointed - and I didn’t even glance at the bottle selection, but from what my neighbors were ordering it really looked exceptional. All the Stone selections I wished to try from the Stone website list were gone. But the other SoCal selections were great.
The food selection impressed considerably with a a choice of Vegetarian, can be made Vegetarian or Vegan label on applicable items.
An exceptional place for an evening out for beer.
We visited this new Stone brew pub on 24th of December 2013. It opened in May of 2013 and is, as expected, just perfect, typical Stone style. Inside very dark with a great bar, stones are used to deliver the Stone atmosphere, a large metal plate with the Stone Arrogant Bastard just makes it Stone like. On the right side you can see the small brewery. On the left side they have a Boccia lawn. The real attraction is the garden, greatly designed with small fountains, many stones and two bars, just perfect. They brew there own beers here in much smaller batches and the sortiment is changing frequently. We had a Stone Witty Moron - a black witbier and a Racer X from Bear Republic, they have a great guest beer selection mainly from California breweries, great!

If you want a Craft Beer experience with a difference go here.
Imagine a combination of a Japanese Garden, a spa, a 5* Hotel, a brewery tap, a massive beer garden, a castle and a holiday resort. Sprinkle in Stone beer and some great food served up with real class.
Stone didn’t need to go as far as they did with this place. The fact that they did anyway makes it all the more fantastic.
Had the honor of trying out this new restaurant in Liberty Station before the official opening. This place undoubtedly is going to do very well. Location is the beautiful NTC redevelopment area in Point Loma. Only downside to this is the air traffic noise. The restaurant successfully blends the old architecture of NTC with Stone’s modern feel. Overall a beautiful space - and apparently the largest restaurant in San DIego now. Just like Stone in Escondido, there is a huge tap and bottle list. Food selections are 70% the same. While eating got to chat with Greg Koch, who reportedly has poured his heart and soul into this place - it shows. Very good food, great architecture and beer - bound to be a monster success.
Another uber hip place. Located in the old Naval Barracks in Point Loma, this spot is jumping. Incredible architecture, friendly staff, and a stacked tap list. Haven’t chowed yet, but we anticipate the food is amazing.
