The best bar near MSG, which isnít saying much. Not an awful bar. HUMONGOUS in size, a bit too corporate perhaps. Can get noisy. Sometimes good stuff on draft though. And letís face it, before or after a Rangers/Knicks game there are few options.
Visited late on a Wednesday afternoon, and still got a table. Quite nice beer selection, a bit limited though, but with some great beers available. A bit slow and not so knowledgeable service, but we managed to find our drinks anyway. Not my preferred place in NYC, but our not-so-beergeeky friend thought it was an interesting stop on our way towards the subway.
Visited on Saturday 23/11/13, not for the frst time around 3pm.
Located a few blocks and minutes from Penn Station Stouts is a sports bar with 20 or so taps and a decent number of bottles.
Certainly NOT a no crap on tap offering but compared to many random Manhattan bars you could wander into it has some decent picks ... Founders Breakfast Stout in bottle for instance.
Lots of sports on screen simultaneously, I watched West Ham vs Cheatsea - English kickerball.
Longish bar with sone flooring and a mix of high and low stools and chairs, also an upstairs level.
The place was pretty busy, due to the central location, with a mixed crowd some lone drinkers like myself, some groups.
I wouldnít go out of the way to come here but it filled a quick 20 minute hole while the other half went to a shop.
A very large, impersonal Midtown beer / sports bar. If you need a beer in the area you will find something to keep your interest and you buddies can have a macro if they need to. Prices are average for NY.
Can be really packed, actually overpacked and loud. Service is ok but can be pretty ignorant. Selection is pretty decent when I checked. Had some good international selections on and local stuff as well. Food was ok but as well typical, huge portions for less quality. Prices are touristy. Overall it is ok for ever now and then.
Decent selection of american beers, rarest beer i saw they had was black ops.
food is very good, but over priced. Located right down the street from penn station and my office so its convenient. Good service, friendly staff, but if im going for beer, id rather walk a couple avenues down to rattle and hum, which if you see my rating is the only reason id ever go there(not for the food)
Absolutely enormous sports bar near Penn Station. I used it as a spot to waste about an hour before my train out of the city. An hour was plenty of time. For a place called STOUT there was a glaring lack of quality stouts on tap. Absolutely nothing available that you couldnít find at nearly every other bar in the city. Seems like the kind of place that gets rowdy during happy hour. Once was enough for me.
