If I’ve been to a bottle shop with a better selection I don’t remember it. Quite frankly blows away Blue Max in Birnsville, MN. I’m sure some of my giddiness is because there are quite a few things here I can’t get in my home market, but even for brewers that I can they have harder to find offerings. Not sure I agree with other reviewers on the "disorganized" and "dusty bottles" comments. Yes there was a section of Eastern European beers that had a number of dusty bottles. So what. As long as that doesn’t mean old then it’s not a big deal. Small bar downstairs is cool with several round tables and wine bottles (very organized) everywhere. Some cool on tap offerings although it was unclear whether you could order something as the bar wasn’t specifically tended. Staff is very knowledgeable and helped me locate some of the more special stuff. Prices seemed very reasonable compared to in MN. Off the charts bombers were sometimes only in the $5-6 range. If you’re anywhere close to this place it’s a must visit. Blows away Papago for beer selection; only thing Papago has over this place is that they brew their own beer.
They have the best beer selection in the valley. The beer and wine lounge in the basement is great as well now that they have everything set up and looking good. I am always well taken care of. Another plus is that they offer a storage cooler in the basement as well. I rent a locker where I age both wines and beers (truly a necessity in the ridiculous heat of the Phoenix area).
A very unusual liquor store with a hidden bar (tasting room) in the cellar. Beer is two different prices, one to go and one to drink there. A decent selection available in bottes but only a couple of taps. The taps are usually pretty good though with some occasional really good stuff. The tasting room is a 25/75 mix of beer and wine but there is still plenty to choose from. Sadly, some of the beer to go is not refrigerated.. A cool little hidden gem not on everyones radar.
south of corner of E. University & N. CountryClub, MESA. little red building and a bright yellow sign on the curb with a sunset on the top of it. Dark and Dingy inside, but OMG, there is more beer than I think I saw anything else. Great Selection. One of the best I’ve seen. Sells single bottles of anything. Super friendly staff made us feel welcome and they were constantly willing to help out with any of our needs.
When you walk in this place, your first instinct may be to turn around and walk out. But, take a few minutes to stroll around the somewhat disorganized dusty shelves and haphazardly placed displays and you will be rewarded. There are boxes of empty six-pack holers placed around the beer areas, so feel free to grab a couple and fill them with whatever you can find. And don’t worry about breaking up another six-pack to get what you want, it is not a problem here. Can’t find exactly what you are looking for? Just ask, most of the employees know the exact location of everything in the store, and seem to have sampled a great majority of them. Looking for a keg? They have a great selection. And they are more than happy to roll out to your car and help load it. This place is truly amazing!
This. Place. Rocks! I found this place by accident, and fell in love the moment I walked in. There is a small section called the Iron Curtain and they have beers from all over the world in there. Beers that I never knew were shipped to Arizona. Oh, and the bar downstairs. That place is incredible, too. Just a really cool "hole in the wall" liquor store with a great selection of beers.
This place is fantastic! It’s not pretty to look at, but what a great selection of beer. I think it might even be better than Plaza Liquors. The prices are reasonable and the staff was friendly enough. A great place to find beer. They wouldn’t let me use thier bathroom though. Hence, the 8 for Service.
