Simply the best beer destination in Boston, if not New England. 120+ beers on tap, 400+ in bottles, dozens of meads, and fairly excellent food. It always astonishes me that not only the bartenders but the waitstaff as well seem to know all about each beer, and and are always ready to offer an intelligent suggestion or alternative. I can just sit and read through the 10-page, daily printed beer menu all night. Parking is tough in the area, take the 57 bus. Youíll be lucky if you can walk anyway by the time you leave after maxing out your credit card on one amazing beer after another.
Went to sunset on a monday night, very easy to get to if you know your way around the Allston/Brighton area. Parking is decent, on a weekday night there was plenty of parking right outside, plus there is a lot in the back but I didnít see how much room there was. Upon entering the place is cozy, they have an upstairs and downstairs with loads of beeraphanailia which I love.
We sat downstairs, although the bar looked might inviting with all the taps, but I wanted to chill a bit away from the forming crowd. The downstairs area is where the kitchen is and the service was great. The waitstaff was very attentive and were more than willing to get answers to any questions we had.
The beer menu is by far the best Iíve ever seen, style after style to drool over. I stuck to what was on tap cause picking from the bottles would have been like picking my favorite verse from the bible. All the beer we had was fresh and tasted great, the food was fast and decent. The sunset has a above average pub menu with some flair, perfect to entertain any persons palate.
Overall this beer bar is tops for MA, probably New England. If your ever in the area this is a must stop for the craft beer fan!
Went there on vacation a few years back.
The BEST draft selection I have every seen, with lots of east coast selections that I was unfamiliar. (Iím from the left side of the countrty.)
We were there in the afternoon. Sever was very knowable and friendly.
Had a great time and would love to go back.
One of the best beer bars in MA...definitely a must vist while anywhere near Boston. This place is a lot of fun although it can get quite crowded. Used to visit frequently when me son lived a couple of towns away. Check it out if in the area...
When we visited this bar I was absolutely astounded by the beer range. they have 112 taps for draft beers, and as far as I am concerned, they will be all on top form, as we tried - extensively! on our visit, and all were exemplary.
I have no qualms about this being one of the worlds best beer bars for choice, and quality. I have not rated the food although the menu looked good, but we did not order, we were taking our bread in liquid form that day. I should also mention the beer shop around the corner called Martys, wow what a range, if you go to the Sunset, go there - out of the bar turn left, left at junction, then 150 yds on right corner.
Fantastic bar. I caught it in the middle of a mass pub crawl and the bartenders still were able to keep up. Fantastic selection, all quality drafts in great condition. More than worth the $50 in cab fare I spent to get there & back! The Lindemans Framboise and DFH 120 were in stellar condition. Food was OK, but youíre not going there for the food.
A beer drinkers paradise .lots of belgians, i.p.a.s,locals and interesting selections.menu done by style and beers available in many sizes. tons of breweriana . Friendly staff that seems to have fun and make good suggestions of whats new on tap ,bottle and what to eat. Love the ribs, spinach dip, appetizers and every thing we had was good. overall a definite stop for hard to find beers.
