Nice little hotel brewpub in the heart of downtown. They do flights of 4 for $10, which is okay. They had 12 house beers on tap when I went, one of which was a standout (the dry hopped citra sour). Beer itself isn’t great overall, but it’s competently and cleanly brewed. Comfy, old-style feel to the pub. Nice place to chill out downtown and worth a stop.
The pub is a bit too old in style. There are way too many waiters (remember that you pay for them!). At least the noise inside is not loud. I’ve been there also 6 years ago, and yet the beers are all the same! No evolution.
Comfortable pub with a nice solarium. Nice bar, with great bar staff. Old english style cask ales, all pretty good with a surprising NWIPA that is great. Didn’t eat, but a nice place to waste away a day drinking session ales. Beer is only what they produce.
The place is ok to go and have a drink but let’s get this straight - the beer is pretty rough. Come here to have a drink downtown and get your tick on, other than that, there are better places to have a good beer in Victoria than here.
Went here for dinner with Mr. Todd Bailey and family. We had a good time. They have a separate room where families are welcome and while at first I was disappointed not to be in the good-looking main room with the nice brick walls, superb paintings worthy of an art gallery and the regular crowd, the kids ended up taking good advantage of our isolation. We had a few beers, the dark ones and hoppy ones all being pretty good examples. Under the circumstances of being in a separate room, the service remained pretty adequate. Food was satisfactory, not too pricey for Victoria and included varied entrées rather than simple pub grub, for instance they had a few asian plates. It is a restaurant and a brewpub and if you have good company to go along with that, it can go a long way.
Dropped by on a late Sunday afternoon. A very quiet, relaxed joint at this hour. Friendly, laid back staff. They advise a bluegrass band is on later, about 8:30. first impressions are good. Oh...did I mention that they have WiFi and it actually works?
Guess I should add something about the beer. First off, I like that they have 10 oz beers, as well as a larger size. Some decent in-house taps, nothing spectacular, but respectable. Their signature brew seems to be the Extra IPA, which can stand it’s own ground among the more modern highly hopped IPA’s.
