I've gotta admit, walking into this famous ruin bar it's hard not to be impressed by the atmosphere and intricate decoration. I can imagine this turning into a living hell in the evenings though, with lots of tourists and hipsters drinking shot and cocktails accompanied by loud music. Fortunately, we visited early. Service was minimal, the downstairs beer selection was as well but there's a small craft beer section on the upper level. This psychedelic ruin bar has to be experienced once I guess.
Visited on 25th May 2017. Hard to describe this place but I’ll give it a go. It’s a multi level collection of rooms around a courtyard, the decor is crazy with different themed rooms and bar in many of them. It’s like an Irish Theme pub gone rogue. It’s certainly a popular hang out with tourist and locals. Beer wise the range is not that exciting although I did scoop in a Slovenian beer (Lasko Dark). It’s more mainstream than craft beer. Service and prices are decent enough. It’s definitely worth a visit for the pub.
A visit to the ruin bars is mandatory for every tourist going to Budapest. The main attraction is the huge amount of nooks and crannies that are put together in a random fashion. It´s very entertaining to visit and explore the many corners of the bar. Attracts a huge crowd of tourists - and as far as beer selection goes, there are far better options around. Nice service in the different bars, trough
The famous ruin pub Szimpla Kert ist a must visit when in Budapest. You enter and you will be surprised. Great outdoor location with many different areas and bars. Visited early afternoon for lunch. Food was solid and worth it. I wanted to try some hungarian craft but i was told they were sold out at the moment, so i just ahd a makro lager.
Cosy ruin bar hidden after an old stone gate. Lots of nooks inside with chillout space and interesting hipster, interior. A few bars there, with one Hungarian IPA. Nice place to hang out and just have fun.
A very interesting place to visit for its atmosphere. Beer selection is mediocre, only interesting if you want to add some mass-produced beers from Hungary or Slovenia to your list of ratings. Avoid later at night, because it’s full of tourists.
The first ruin pub in Budapest. Very large place, and there is a lot of sections. It’’ is pleasent in the afternoons but at evening and at night it is very noisey becouse of the huge huge crowd. The service is kind and the selection is okey. The prices are okey too. Not my favourite but a most see for tourists.
