This place is great. I had visited the Kulminator a few times, but never ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske and I must say I’m glad I finally took the time to have a beer in this pub. Friday evening, so the atmosphere was really good. Crowded, but not too much. Service was very good. Dylan and the bar owner (sorry, forgot his name) are two really friendly people, who know there beers and know how you should treat their customers. Selection is nice, with a few hidden gems. Prices depend a little on the beer, but overall those are good. Overall, great place, will visit again.

Decent bar, with a good selection, and some of the harder to find brews. Love to see some of DSB and De Molen. Good atmosphere, but when thirsty, and only 3 people inside, it should be nice to be ordered some quicker. Wanted a second drink, but couldn’t wait anymore, so on to another place. But afterall, this one is something to do again, and maybe even add some points to the score.
EDIT: Get to lower the score a bit. Getting complaints in PM that the service is that great, and I’m "wrong"... But the second time I got there it was even worse... Leave the laptop alone when people are in the bar... should be a nice start to see when people wants another drink. Edit: And again, very slow service, we even stood up after about 15 minutes and left the place without a drink... Some great beers for sure, but the personel can be so much better! The 4th time we got ordered quick enough the first time, but again way to slow the second. At least some improvement with the girl instead of the boy...
Great selection of bottled beers and some gems on tap if you’re lucky. They had Struise Black Damnation Blackberry Alpert on when we visited. Very friendly nd helpful staff. The owner pulled out a rarity from Orval from the cellar and gave good recommendations. As did he rest of the staff. Friendly atmosphere and people of all ages, even infants. Good value for money. Recommended.
great place, bartender knows his beers, pours the beer in the matching glass. Selection of beers is excellent, nice bar, great ambiance, had some Struise from tap, good prices.I’ll definitely visit this place again, and again and again ;)
Very cool beer bar in Antwerp. Service was great. The taps are well kept, decent selection (constant rotating Struise tap). Prices were on par with what you would find elsewhere, and they include a four beer taster tray for under 10 Euro, with generous pours and Trappist cheese. Bottles are well thought out, not too big but decent. Very much enjoyed my time here, and only about a 10 minute walk from Kulminator. Worth a shot if you are in the area
Very good beer pub in the center of Antwerp.
Some people it’s not for beergeeks just because they don’t have allot of foreing beers, then again it’s a Belgian beer pub what’d you expect ? anyway Kraddel/Dylan here are doing a big job getting some awesome international brews in here !! keep up the good work.
Always fun to have a chit chat with fellow locals, beerlovers, the owner or the servers.
Selection is good in my eyes with a rotating tap from the Struise and the best Lambic selection you can find in Antwerp with little over 20 different beers i geuss ( or maybe even more ! ) other pubs don’t provide this in Antwerp.
Even Lambik on handpump or bag in a box !
Food isn’t really applicable, but they doserve delicious cheese and salami and in winter periods some croque monsieurs with abbey cheese !!
For me this is a great spot and second best place in Antwerp behind Kulminator.

Pretty close to centre as is pretty much everything in Antwerp, not a real beer geek bar but one with an interesting selection never the less, more of better local bar, about 300 or so beer, rotating Struise on tap as well as lambic which is nice, nice selection of Struise, nothing really rare but some nice things never the less, some sours, handful of slightly rarer beers plus Armand’Spirit which I haven’t come across anywhere else, half a dozen descent whiskey, no food save for some snacks, not bad interior. /// Increased the score – after Kulminator – this place & Gollem have probably the best selection in Antwerp. Usually quite crowded but that is because this place is popular & nothing else. Nice service, they let me open me here some bottles here. Some lambic’s etc. /////// Updating the score a bit, selection is now solid BE fare with some lambic’s, nothing particularly rare or esoteric but very solid beers never the less. Selection is prob. second best in Antwerp after Kulminator. Rotating Struise on tap & Rodenbach Foederbier. More recently some USA-style EU craft has been popping up here, some neat bottles, not a large or esoteric selection but very solid additions never the less & it is bound to improve and be the best as far as that goes in Antwerp. Kraddel from RB now work here, he is great guy, very solid service, recommendation etc. You cannot go wrong there. Food is still pub snacks.////////// The thing that I like most about this place still is the fact that this feels like a 100 % Belgian “Bruine Kroeg” bar with a very nice beer list. This is something that is lost a bit too often in my opinion with extended beers list in Belgium & with highly rated bars being overrun by tourists. This place does really deserve its #2 spot in Antwerp whilst Oud Arsenaal does not deserve its rating. That is a “Bruine Kroeg” in a terrible way whilst this place is a shining example. Feel free to compare.
Visisted on 26/09/13.
Decent selection of Belgian goodies with a dozen or so on tap and a few hundred bottles including a decent amount of Struise - although none of the rarities.
The place was pretty quiet for 2100 on a Thursday, one friendly local couple and their dog who I got chatting to at the bar, plus a few other blokes.
Service was fine, Kraddel manning at the - although he was far from stretched on this occasion. At least with him behind the bar you’ll have someone to hook you up with something good if you want reccomendations.
I had Rodenbach Foederbier on cask which was a result!
Handy as a calling point prior to hitting Kulminator which is a 5 or 6 minute walk away.
Worth the visit.
