Visited around 11pm on a Friday night and the place was maybe half full. Semi-modern, compact establishment with a great selection of [mostly non-AZ] beers, all displayed nicely on a television screen. Custom flights of 4 available for $8-10 (depending on beer price), which is a great deal for a bar. Very friendly and quick service. The best beer stop for me in Tempe. Highly recommended. And don’t forget to check out the bottle shop next door.
I stopped here briefly after shopping at the liquor store next door. I guess you can buy stuff in the store and drink it here? Pretty cool. They had a nice selection of their own as well. Hangar 24’s Pugachev’s Cobra was amazing. I will be back next time I’m in Tempe.
Visited on a Wednesday evening. Attached to the liquor store next door (Tops Liquor). Small narrow space, 12 seats at the bar, a couch and a handful of small tables. The crowd mostly students, pretty laid back. 24 beers on draft, nice selection of beers though I was surprised to see 0 AZ beers. Selection had a bunch of Colorado and Utah beers, which seemed odd. Bottles are available as well. Friendly service. Quirky, no frills place, though if I was a local I would keep an eye on their draft list, certainly a place to feature unique beers and one offs.
70 = ★★½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
Checked out this place tonight. A bunch of nice taps, not too crazy for a Saturday night. Would certainly recommend stopping in here if in the area. Hooked up to the liquor store next door, which I did not explore because I already spent too much money on beer and mead.
Met up with Ibrew2or3 here before heading to the airpoirt. Nice enough taproom hanging off a liquor store. Not a lot of room inside, but it was cozy. Taplist was interesting; oddly stocked with Oskar Blues; not sure if this is normal or not. Lots of coolers of bottles, but I did not really check them out.
One of my favorite bars in the area. The selection is very good and they always have a few non-American craft beers on tap. A really laid back atmosphere where people are usually playing board games at the tables. You can bring your own food, since they don’t have a kitchen. Prices are average for the area. The service has been good each time I have been there. The bartenders are knowledgeable. A really nice little place for drinking some good craft beers.
Nice little bar attached to a great bottle shop. You can’t bring anything from one to the other, so they really are separate entities. Very good draught list, including a mix of local, rare, and highly rated options. It’s small and can get crowded, so service isn’t at a premium, but the beer is always at the forefront of the place. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.
Small bar connected to Tops Liquors in Tempe. It’s a nice, cool place with bartenders that would fit in at Three Floyds. The tap list was very nice, especially for someone like me who doesn’t have regular access to some of these labels. I grabbed a Lost Abbey I’d never seen before. Fair prices, proper glassware, no food. Just a simple, solid beer bar. Definitely worth a visit while you’re in Tempe.
