Still early days for this new Lygon St. beer bar. I’ve visited numerous times as staying close by. Solid tap selection from different Aussie micros, but slow turnover at this stage. It was busy on a Saturday night though. One complaint was they had a singing dude right next to the bar belting out tunes meaning you couldn’t even hear yourself think to decide the next beer. Actually it was so loud in the bar we just left. Not cool. There’s now a kitchen serving food. A good addition to the area, with Temple Brewing just around the corner.
Rather like the name suggests, it's a real ale house! Lots of long wooden tables and a super long bar for anyone who prefers to stand. They have 12 taps of awesome and rather rare Aussie beers plus around 30 bottles and cans. Working wifi and good service. It's a 30 minute tram ride from the city centre but it's well worth it for the awesome beer selection alone. The number 1 tram stops right outside the bar at Stoo 121. They only serve quality here.
I love this place, selection is fantastic, always something different on and Alex puts together some the the best tap takeover’s in town. Food changes often, it’s not cheap, but then again you pay for unique beers,
Located in the semi-run down Brunswick East area, this is a nicely set-up bar with 12 taps. We visited on a day that had a New Zealand beer tap takeover, with beers from Hop Federation and Epic. No paddles, which is a downside, so the cheapest you’ll pay for a [small] beer is about $9 ($15-16 for pints), expensive even for Australia. Service is alright, nothing very friendly. Definitely worth a stop when in town.
Really love this place. Always something interesting on the taps. Never even needed to look at the bottles (though there seems to be a few). Service is generally great (though it does get busy after work sometimes). Nice modern craft beer decor feel, but still relaxed. Lovely beer garden out the back when the weather’s good.

Not a lot but still great beer selection on tap and bottle. Food is ok but slightly expensive. Nice atmosphere.

This place is probably the most adventurous and repeat visit worthy of the craft beer venues on this side of the Yarra (i.e. if you can’t be bothered heading to Local Taphouse and dealing with St Kilda types). Has very frequent ’tap takeovers’, some local, some NZ, some international. Has a very good capacity to get rare (for Melbourne) beers in. In all my visits, I’ve never bothered to get a bottle, so that speaks for the tap range. Food is OK, if a little on the small/over-engineered side. Service is typically excellent, and the vibe is often beer nerdy (i.e. more follks checking in beers of untappd than should be allowed).
Great vibe in this place. really enjoy my experience every time. Trivia, Football, excellent tap list and great food. The dudes behind the bar are absolute gents too! Pricing is not the cheapest in town
