We visited The Alexander Graham Bell on two occasions (breakfast stops) Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th March 2016. Btw the we being me, Dad and Barry. I had been here before again on at least a couple of occasions with Craig and Stella. This is a good sized JDW on a wide avenue just one street back on a road that runs parallel with Princes Street.

Inside this follows the large room format of many of its type, and as a consequence suffers the same issues plagued by many JDWs, (or maybe it’s just me) However I always find them to be too dark and gloomy and this one is no exception. I counter this by trying to find a seat by the windows at the front, but tables left unclean following the previous people’s breakfast on both days suggests that others do the same.

The beer choice looked ok with a couple of festival beers amongst the usual suspects, though at this early hour a coffee and tea was sufficient. Three women who looked like they’d had a heavy night sat cackling (constantly) in the corner, we’d seen the them day before heading towards this place and they all had the faces of hard partying types. I didn’t have an exploration of this place, I think that I recall the layout from previous visits. I like this street where the Alexander Graham Bell sits its less chaotic than Princes Street and has an elegance about it, anyway back to the pub, I guess I may revisit but in all likelihood it is mostly going to be for the breakfast.

Typical spoons, something like ten taps usually with a ’coming soon’ sign on half of them.

Small square shaped Wetherspoon pub on the fine and wide George Street in the city centre. It occupies one of the ground floor shops on the commercialised row of stone terrace buildings that line both sides of the avenue. Inside the decor is feels fresh with some thought and money put into it. Does well with shoppers looking for food in the daytime.

Another Spoons just a short walk from the Standing Order. 8 cask ales, of which only 4 were on/working when I visited. Tick what you can and move on.

Standard Wetherspoons setup - cheap ales in decent conditon. A good place for a decent pint when in George Street.

Very new clean and modern Wetherspoons in the heart of the city centre. Understaffed with slow service but the beer selection was very good and well cared for. Food standard JDW menu.
