The Bailie Bar is in a semi-basement on a corner, just up from the river in Stockbridge. There’s a central bar and the decor is quite old fashioned - lots of dark wood, dark red walls and ceiling and a real fire. It could be a bit foody but the only other customers were two ladies lunching, a man reading the Herald at the bar and three (I’d guess) retired academics with “Absolutely” accents. There were six hand pumps and the beers were, if not particularly interesting, in good shape. Although it’s cosy and relaxed, it wouldn’t warrant a special journey or a return visit. Character filled corner cellar bar, not a particularly huge choice, but a couple of interesting cask beers on the bar in decent enough nick.

Good ambience and friendly service. They’ve got a few taps on the go, some a bit bland but some a bit more exciting. Overall, happy to come back.

Oh yeah, this place is neat and has a great vibe. Comes as a total surprise. Looks not particularly inviting and then enter and it’s a cozy place you can spend hours in, very conducive to conversation. There were lots of Americans in here for some reason, is this an expat neighborhood? Area is posh.

Basement bar on street corner close to the Stockbridge Tap. Came here for Stewart Brewery promotion so most of the beers came from this brewery.Beer well cared for and atmosphere cosy. Much larger than it looks from the outside.
