Ambiance: What a weird place to go have a beer. The Cove is a laundrmat, ice cream parlor, coin operated car wash, food window...and also have two bars. The front bar is an inside bar with long picnic tables, a stage, and a bar with about a dozen taps plus bottles. The back bar (TX beer bar) has 50 taps, all loaded with texas craft beers and it outside. In between the two structures are picnic tables, ping pong tables, an enclosed dog pen for dogs to run in and an enclosed playground...most of which is under cover of some type, whether be a vinyl cover or a corrugated sheet metal roof. Weird and awesome all at the same time.
Service: The servers are just running food and the bartenders are somewhat overwhelmed for the most part, they are friendly and polite but pouring beer.
Selection: The up front bar is okay with you are not gonna find anything crazy or rare. The back bar has 50 taps of TX beers, even locals can find something to drink off of their menu, let alone an out of towner.
Food: Fresh food, solid burgers and stews, was not disappointed at all. Wife had the 09er and I the Big Bison, both were great and cooked well.
Value: Food was a little higher in price but seemed to be worth it for the freshness and quality. The beers were anywhere for 4.50-6 for a pint for the back bar area. Par.
Overall: A really weird place but it grew on me and I chose stopping there a second time over Freetail on my way out of town. Especially when you have a 4 year old who can have a blast while you have a pint or two. This place is off the beaten path and not someplace I would have gone but I trusted a TX trading partner who recommended it. Youll shake your head questioning why you are there on the way in....and happy you stopped on the way out.
