UPDATE: They just moved to a larger location in the same plaza. I was there for the grand re-opening, the place looks great, 3 times the size! They had some of there home brews to sample, the Porter and IPA were great. The owner said that the brewery should be open in a few months. Very nice.
ORIGINAL RATE: You won’t find a better place to enjoy good beer in South Florida. Staff is very knowledgeable, bottle selection is excellent and they have plenty of drafts that rotate frequently. They will be brewing soon and signs point to them producing quality beer.
Very nice selection of craft brews, over 80 bottled beers and 11 on tap. They are 1 of only 3 bars in South Florida to have Dogfish Head 90 Minute on tap. They have a few Vintage ales to choose from.. MMmmm.. Lots of American microbrews accounted for. The only macro for sale is canned Bud Light and it is listed at $30 on the menu. Don’t worry though, the prices for the micros are normal. The place is awesome! REALLY great atmosphere & very knowledgeable staff (the owners are home brewers and two of the staff brew at local brewpubs). The Funky Buddha Lounge is just a great place to enjoy a beer.
I doubt you could find a better brewpub in South Florida than The Funky Bhudda Lounge. The brews crafted here are truly art in glass. If you should find yourself anywhere near this place and if you seek legendary brews then you must make a pilgimage to the Funky Bhudda. And, no I don’t work there. Check it out!!
The Funky Buddha has been my local watering hole for three years now. They make tremendous beers and sell a number of guest taps and bottles. They have very little turnover of bartenders so it is nice to walk in and see familiar, friendly faces. The crowd tends to also be younger and craft beer lovers. Ambiance is...well....Funky! It is dark with lots of artwork, tapestries, etc. They do live music/performance so there is a stage in the middle. Food...not so much. It is mostly frozen stuff and light snacks. I love the Buddha.
Nice vibe, dark, intimate feel with plenty of couches to relax on, art and beer paraphernalia on the walls. Service is frendly and attentive. Nice to get a hookah and a good beer at the same time. Food is limited to appetizers and sandwiches, all are made in house, the Hummus and Spiach Dip stand out for me. Beer selection is excellent. The list is done by style, with descriptions for all the bottles which is a nice touch. Around 20 drafts with both there house brews and guest drafts. There beers are impressive and I look forward to trying more. Nice to have a brewery in Boca. It can get a little loud when they have entertainment, which really isn’t my thing, but they have enough mellow nights (and outside seating) to make me happy. One of my favorite places.
The new location of the Funky Buddha, same plaza just bigger space, is awesome. The feel of the place is great with plenty of space. Even has a nice sized stage for acts now. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Ryan, Kevin and Jim really know their beer. The selection isn’t bad and is only going to get better when they become a full licensed brew pub. You can ask for a free sample of their brews right now. Trust me, do it. You won’t regret it and have something to look forward to when they actually start selling the beers. The food menu is limited but very innovative and good. The chicken quesadilla rocked. The value is quite good. Just a warning that they do add gratuity to the check automatically. Just saying that so you aren’t shocked at seeing it. Overall it’s a great place to have a beer and hang out.

A truly unique and wonderful place. Very laid back. An excellent selection of house brewed and guest beers. There is often live entertainment, ranging from stand-up comedy to live, in-your-face music. For a reasonable price you can rent a coal-fired hookah for yourself or to share. I had to try it and took the advice of Kevin (hankchinaski), going with the Blue Mist and Pink Lemonade blend of shisha. Wonderful and I must have been pulling on that thing for an hour and a half. Laid-back Islamic decor. Very cool. The brewers also man the bar, so the staff is very knowledgeable regarding beer. A must try.
Funky Buddha used to be a tiny place in a strip mall shopping center that had lots of hookahs and a decent selection of beers and no real food to speak of but a great staff and cool atmosphere. Now they have moved to a place easily twice if not three times the size with the same cool vibe, and the same awesome staff. They will soon be brewing their own beer (which the early batches have been very solid) and their new limited food menu is both terrific and pretty unique. The beer selection can be iffy at times since they draw a big crowd but Ryan goes out of his way to get good stuff. This place is definitely now a South Florida destination spot that every local ratebeerian should check out. Highly recommended.
