A pretty cozy restaurant/bar in a very nice part of St Paul. The weirdly shaped bar goes around a corner, so itís impossible to see all the taps available from one seat. Luckily, the bar staff was pretty patient and happy to fill me in on what was available. The beer list is large and features a lot of Belgian stuff on tap. I was primarily interested in local beers, and found the tap list a bit lacking in that area. Still, what was available was of good quality. I had some awesome beers from Indeed and Steel Toe. The food I tried was definitely a cut above average. Definitely consider eating here. Prices werenít exactly cheap. Overall, worth a detour for a meal and a few beers.
I made my first appearance this afternoon, a Saturday at 3:00 PM. The place was quite busy for the rather off hour. I was able to find a string of 3 empty bar stools so that I could sit without having to establish territory. The bar tender was really harried with the situation, since she was getting hit with lots of orders. She was nice enough about it. I ordered a Surly 16 Grit and one of the small plates, a rather outstanding Braised Elk Tartlet. I then followed up with a Surly Furious. The service got better as the rush died down. The atmosphere is great, pub like, and the food I tried was awesome. I will return.
Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. Good selection, great food, decent service, but prices are very, very high. As stated, selection is good, but lacked any real hard to find gems. Good feel to the place, but if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, expect the place to be packed, and parking to be a nightmare (particularly in the winter). Overall, Iím a little split on the place. Maybe my sights were set too high, but selection didnít amaze, particularly when prices are factored in. The food was really good though, and if you go at an off time, the ambiance is very nice. Regardless, worth a stop.
The eyecandy was nice here. Lots of taps and bottles. Thereís a bar and patio out back. Very quaint and hopping at the same time. I would go there often if the place existed in Milwaukee. The crowd is young! Yay! Barkeeps were a little slow at times.

I have been there twice now as I was very impressed the first time I felt driven to come back agagin just to make sure the great food wasnít a fluke. Lenghty selection of brews and the owner was more than happy to talk beer for almost 20 minutes. They have a keg of Batch 7000 waiting to be tapped.Did I mention Oak Aged Yeti in a bomber?? Or Kasteel Brune on tap???
This place has a nice bar and a great patio. If you want to enjoy the great outdoors, you will give up some service and beer knowledge as the servers are not as attentive or as knowledgeable as the bartenders. The beer list is great for taps (rotated often) and bottles. The prices are a bit high but somehow worth it as the beers are fresh and uncommon. A $13 venison burger seemed steep but was quite good and far from ordinary. Homemade fries and homemade catsup (I think) really made a difference. The great neighborhood feel keeps me coming back as well. Not far from downtown St. Paul it is worth a stop.
