Small and unpretentious. An L-shaped bar at the front and a narrow dining room to the rear. Has possibly seems better days. But then again it hasn’t been blandly refurbished. I would have possibly got a better impression if it had been livelier. As it was, it was me and two OAPs. They were chatting away to the barman. 6 hand pumps but only 5 beers on (London Pride, ESB, Oliver’s Island, Seafarer’ s and the Joules guest which I had). Nice old pub, would return to give it a second chance.

We visited here Saturday 10th March 2012. It was a lovely sunny late winter/early spring day and we would have happily sat outside if there had of been another bench available, as it was we sat inside. There were six Fullers beers on handpump we both had ESB, it was decent but maybe my taste has changed over the years as I certainly didn’t enjoy it as much as I used to, however like I said it was very decent, good condition etc. Service was fine, atmosphere pleasant, all in all a good pub.

The Blossom is as close to it gets if you’re after a country pub in the middle of town: no juke box, no games machines, roaring log fire in fall and winter, books (and not just for show !). On a chill winter night, there’s no better place to be.

The Hop Blossom is the most perfect example of a town pub that I’ve ever experienced. The pub is reached via a pedestrian close from the mainstreet of the lovely old Georgian market town of Farnham. It’s at the intersection of two alleys that form the "patio" in good weather. A crown of hop vines grow over the entrance. Since it’s a Fuller’s tied pub, the taps include Fuller’s ESB, London Pride, and Chiswick, as well as George Gale. The publican, Jim MacDonald-Good is regularly recongnized as a master cellarman, based on the condition of his casks. I can’t think of a better place to enjoy the conviviality and casualness that exemplifies this "pub as an Englishman’s living room" tradition.
