If you want craft beer in Atlanta, you MUST go to The Porter Beer Bar. Handís down one of the best craft beer bars Iíve been to. They had a great selection of drafts (around 30 or 35) and the bottle list was amazing. Then, you get to the back of the bottle list and you hit the Vintage bottle list which was another 15 or so pages. WOW! I love the look of the place, the people were very nice, the service was great, the neighborhood is charming. The only complaint was the food. The mac and cheese was fine as was the spent grain bread with butter. But I had some short ribs my dog wouldnít have been able to chew through. But forget the food...the beer was AMAZING!
Visited in February 2017. Neighbourghood is very strange and lots of hipsters roaming around. Great tap list (BA Old Ruffian finally, thanks for this one!). Food was great and portions very big. Porn Dog was HUGE. Bottle list was one of the best I have ever seen but unfortunately didnít have time for that. Great place.
Visited here in mid-February í17 while in town visiting my son. Canít add much more than the other 108 reviews have said. Great beer list, the cellar beers look tremendous - not in my budget range though!. Dark, homey atmosphere. The thing thing that really stood out for me was the outstanding service, the waiter was very friendly, humorous and not pretentious like some can be at beer geek kind of places. Glad I finally visited this place.
Stumbled on by chance and so pleased we did great beer selection lots of breweries and beers ive never tried before. No domestic either which forced mrs to drink craft !. Will go here again in the future when in Atlanta.
Awesome place. The tap list is quite good, but the bottle list is where itís really at... This is one of the best bottle lists Iíve seen anywhere! Tons of sours and stouts, with a sizeable amount of barley wines, IPAs and saisons for good measure... The fact that theyíve got a separate entry for berliner weisses on their menu says a lot. Friendly staff and good food rounds off one of the best places Iíve been in the US.
Located in eclectic Little Five Points, this bar is part hipster, all beer nerd. There are 50-some taps and a larger bottle collection. The food is quite good if not overpriced. This has the feel of an old home that is rarely cleaned thought the servers stay busy.
Visited in February 2014. Just what I hoped to find, and (half) expected to find in a part of town that had been described to me as "hippy". Gently bohemian Iíd say. The bar is long and narrow with a slightly shabby chic feel. Seemed to open up a bit into more of an eating area at the back although we just sat at the bar & I didnít explore much up there. Atmosphere was a little compromised by the fact that the little green/seating area near the front door seemed to be the gathering point for all the local bums & tramps. Not that that really impacted on the ambience inside the bar.
We ended up staying rather longer here than intended due to failing to correctly note the opening times of the Wrecking Bar just down the road. The well-curated draft list kept us nicely occupied for all that time so we didnít have to stray into the bottle list. The selection was a good mix of solid beers, both domestic and imported although a little light on local stuff - perhaps was just unlucky with timing on that. Service was excellent - enthusisatic and clued up - and the bart ender was very generous with free samples, which is just as well as I would have been shotfaced had I had a full pour of everything I wanted.
Well worth a trip. Lodging in Decatur - where there are some budget options with parking and a good smattering of decent bars - and using the MARTA to travel to Little Five Points and/or more into the city centre is a good option.
Visited this beer bar on 27.4.2016. It is a 10 minutes walk from the Wrecking Brew Pub. Great long bar with 40 beers on tap and 2 hand pumps. Similar to Toronado in SF, but they have additional rooms in the rear part. Interesting selection of beers, from sour ales to smoked beers and heavy IPAís. Really enjoyed the hand pump beer, which was served at room temperature. Also food was quite good, had a Bratwurst with Kraut.
