Visited this dimly lit quite posh looking marble palace on a quiet Friday, 3-5 PM or so. Surprisingly slow service considering the number of guests, but at least they were super friendly and the guy at the bar were knowledgeable enough for our needs. Got a wonderful duck confit sandwich and a bunch of lovely beers from kegs. Had a couple of bottled ones as well. The bottle list is the most impressive about this place I think, but since we didn’t have much time we didn’t get to ruin ourselves exploring it. Not that the prices are ridiculous in any way, but I bet we could easily drink for several hundred dollars without even touching the expensive ones. Anyway, I’m glad we spent the time on the subway to get back and forth, it’s a place every beer nerd coming to NYC should visit, but please make sure to look at the bottle list. At least on our visit the tap list was a bit focused on imp stouts and Jolly Pumpkin. I love both, but with 21 taps I’d prefer if more than half of them were not either Imp stouts or JP.
this was like a bar mixed with a clockwork orange. such a unique and neat place. amazing draft and good price for nyc

Long layover at JFK? Take the hour long taxi ride to Brooklyn and visit Torst! Well worth the trip and the $$. Awesome place kinda tucked away. Stopped by on a Thursday at 3:00pm so there were only a few people there. Really cool atmosphere. Clean "dive bar" feel mixed with a hipster coffee shop. Tap list alone is well thought out and has hit after hit. Bottle list is pretty nuts if you want to pick off a bottle of something you’ve been searching for but the taps are enough to keep you occupied. Very friendly staff. Will definitely need to return.
Phenomenal bar in terms of selection. Probably one of the best I’ve been to in that regard. Really great variety b/w Evil Twin stuff and other goodies. Pretty tame atmosphere overall but the selection is outstanding. They also organize their tap list more or less according to ABV, which is kinda cool. The crowd when I was there was on the older side which surprised me a bit. Overall, the selection makes it worth it.
Tough place to rate. On the one hand, the selection was quite interesting. 25% of the taps were devoted to various imperial stouts. 14/21 (75%) of the taps were devoted to beers of 7%ABV or stronger. They could use a little more diversity I think. However, they had Schlenkerla fastenbier when I was there, and it was gorgeous, easily the best thing on tap. The vibe was more yuppie than expected, not the typical beer crowd. Staff on the ball on a very busy evening. No one was eating, surprisingly. All the beers are served in a long-stemmed wine glass decorated with pine trees, no matter what the beer style. I did not like this at all, but I suppose it fits with their commitment to stocking mainly beers of >9% ABV: wine strength. The bottle list is short but very well-curated! So overall, I like that they have a vision and that vision is well-executed. This is basically a wine bar for beer lovers.
