I love this place but itís small. So itís great to grab a beer and sit for a minute with a friend or co-worker and maybe buy a bottle. This is perfect for me but I am not going to sit there for hours drinking beer. The original Trappist is better for that. Also, the staff know their stuff and are friendly.
Honestly first Mikkeller Bar, that didnít feel like one. Limited drafts, and smaller to go options than other that have that option. Worth a quick stop, couldnít see hanging here for more than an hour.
Stopped in for a quick visit to say hi to Toni. Not a large place by any means. a few tables, tiny bar and coolers + shelves with bottles on the right. Place clearly has a Mikkeller focus now; i think all but two of the taps were pouring Mikkeller beer, with most being Mikkeller San Diego brews. Bottles were perhaps 50% Mikkeller as well, and included a few that I had not seen before, which was interesting. Prices seemed fair enough to me. Place was surprisingly not crowded on a Saturday night; perhaps Zwanze day was a bigger draw...
Finally made it here for their 3rd Anniversary event. Taplist was quite impressive on this day, including a number of special Sante Adairius beers. The place itself is small with a few picnic tables and about five bar seats.
The ordering system could be problematic if it was crowded as you have to line up at the register and then pay and get your beer. Oh well, it seems to work. The service was quite good even with a decent lunchtime crowd.
As with the bar in downtown Oakland, pricing here can be quite laughable. Charging $10 for a pour of Saison Bernice? Okay... Though not the largest beer list, very good draft and bottle selection, though, you just have to pay a premium for certain things.
Good service, nice cozy location, and plenty of solid beers to be had.
Visited the 15th November 2015 - Cosy place on a really nice neighborhood. The place has a really nice selection of Belgian beer, with especially some beers really hard to catch even if you are in Belgium... Price are ok for the place and the service is really smart. There are a tap selection but I didnít try it. A good place to visit if you are looking for Belgian beers, also if you want to find some nice beer, the selection is smaller for beer from California but I found my treasure. Good place, nice service, great beers !
Cool little place in Oakland. Combination bottle shop and taproom. Has some snacks available (I did not try them). Expensive, but what else do you expect in SF? Nice mix of stuff on tap with several sours, stuff from Europe and a nice collaboration beer from Mikkeler and Grassroots. Several coolers of beer. Would certainly stop by again if I was in the area!
One of my favorite places in the bay area. Small clean shop that has a european feel to it. Attention to detail and care of the beer, especially the draft. Small but one of the best tap lists during my trip. Knowledgeable staff and a couple of nice bottles to go rounded out my stop. Will be back again for sure.
Great bottle selection, but rather expensive. Tap selections varies in quality. Their goal is to only carry beer stat most other places donít, which means they donít cary any "regular" local or not local beers. A little bit strange for a California beer bar.
I have been here many times and the service is always Excellent, and The bartenders are knowledgeable and nice.the Tap selection is limited sometimes but the bottle selection is always worth picking through..I have been here when they host Cantillon Releases and such and the organization is very nice with a ticket system so there is no screwing around..I always stop here a few times when I am in the area. Great Place!
Stopped in here for the Sante Adairius event the other night. I got there a little early and I was lucky when another guy had to leave so I was able to snag his seat at the bar. Nice seating area in the front along with all the bottles to go, more on those later. Small bar area toward the back, apparently they have an upstairs area as well but I never saw it. Service was great, got slower once the event started but that was expected. Quality was quite high. Lots of high end materials used in the space and the beers were all served in the correct glasses. Selection was stellar even without the event going on. They still had a Cantillon on from a previous event so I got one of those to start and then tried three of the Sante beers, all of which were incredible. Bottle selection was great as well. Some pretty rare Crooked Staves, limited Belgian beers and others. No food this time but it looked pretty sparse, mainly just small dishes to pick at. Prices were a little on the high side on some of the beers I looked at. Overall a really solid beer bar, I wish I could come here more often.
