Easy to find corner location with street Parking. Quiet mid-afternoon visit with bar on right and another room on left with tables for food and beverages. Freindly bartender and she had good knowledge of beers and seemed to be bartender, cook and server and did all well. 58 taps and I had three new beers. Did not get to eat. Enjoyed the visit and this is the second time there.
From outside the place looks like any other small town bar with pool tables, regulars etc. BUt when you step in and see the taps lined up in the bar, I say WOW. Great staff and service, food was excellent. Had a such a tender steak. Samplers from their tap selection. What else could you ask ;-). Highly recommended.
Trion is a true treasure for the microbrew fan. Over 50 beers on tap now. Excellent Bells and 3 Floyds Selections. The Southern Tier Beers are a must try. This is a smaller bar in a small town, but the tastes are big city! Food is standard bar fare, but a few dishes stand out. Service is outstanding, bar keeps are knowledgealbe. If you are within a 90 minute drive, iit is a must location.
The draw for this place is the tap list. They have an insane amount of great beer on tap and they bring new beers in frequently. The food is good pub grub, but I haven’t eaten much of the menu. The staff is nice and will let you taste if you don’t know if you want to buy. This is a great stop if you find yourself stuck in the Ft. Wayne area.
You know this place has such an excellent selection and all on tap. 54 beers on tap including the best by FFF, Southern Tier, Great Divide, Mikkeller, Chimay and others. A lot of these beers you just can’t get anywhere. And to boot they have a nice option to buy a flight of 5 beers for 10 bucks. Great idea. I
I didnt have the food so I rated as average. The selection is typical bar fare though.
One thing that keeps this bar from being the highest rated bar for me is the smoking. Seriously how the fuck am are you supposed to taste and smell a beer in a cloud of smoke? You can’t. If it werent for this I would go back more often, but for now JKO is where I am going to go.
I simply love this place! Having grown up in New Haven the Trion was always known as a basic bar...then things changed and it has become a craft brew drinkers wet dream! The 45 taps of amazing brews keep me coming back whenever I can. The owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming.
The food is far better than standard pub fair, so this is a worthwhile stop even if you’re not a beer geek (or are with a non beer geek.)
Do yourself a favor and stop in and have a pint or five!
I had heard mixed emotions about this bar, but most were positive. Upon entrance into Trion, the first thing to notice is the bar. A gorgeous wooden floor piece surrounds a nice chunk of the bar with two sets of tap handles in front and back. Trion has 45 taps and most are of quality brews. The beer list sits a little too heavily on American micro’s. The only Belgian beer I recall is Chimay White. The beer list has all of their beers listed (which was not updated) without any of the prices. I ended up having a FFF Blackheart for $7 and an Avery Maharaja for $8. Each beer was about a 14 oz. pour. The decor was of updated beer signs which once again were of American micros. I’m almost wondering how they can turn over the beer fast enough to keep every draft line fresh. There was myself and two other people on a Wednesday at 5:00pm. One person was drinking a Coke and the other a BMC. I think this place has lots of potential but would benefit from lowering their prices a tad more to reel in more people from Ft. Wayne. I’d definately go back and hope next time it’s a smoking free establishment.
Was here several years ago before the change of ownership and I am happy with the changes. Great selection available and the ability to get a growler to go of any beer on tap is a great feature not available anywhere else in northwest Indiana to my knowledge. My only complaint is that this bar is just outside of Fort Wayne, located in New Haven where smoking is legal in bars and restaurants. I have come to expect to be free of smoke and I often pass over this bar because I do not want to be in a smoking environment when I have a choice.
I really can’t say enough about this place! 45 taps with all but 3 being craft. I was there for part of the AFC championship game last Sunday and had a blast! They have a really interesting mix of regulars that come out and drink macros after working at the factory, and beer geeks and craft lovers out to find some great craft beer on tap. I accidentally laughed in some poor guys face when he order a Budweiser long neck and they said they were out, but we quickly became friends while we watched the game. All the craft beer you could hope to try with a regularly rotated stock... you MUST make a stop here!
A true gem - incredible tap selection. Food was good, standard pub fare. Went there for lunch - not too crowded but only one waitress who was working her butt off. Definitely worth a trip - I’m not sure how they are able to support as many taps as they do (most of the clientele was drinking macros while I was there). Hopefully craft beer lovers will allow this place to maintain their selection.
