Great location in the heart of Berkeley. Minimalist, yet classic decor. Very welcoming. This place seems to attract all ages and walks of life, which is cool. It obviously skews toward the college crowd at certain times especially on Saturdays when they crowd the place for Cal football. I got a burger here once which was very good, but I usually only come for the beer. This rating is an update for me since my appreciation for Rodger’s brewing skills has grown big time. Triple Rock makes by far my favorite hoppy beers in the Bay Area, and they are very prolific. I stop in at least once a month and there are always, on average, 3 or so new beers on tap. The service is good with mostly college kids managing the bar. Say hello to Rodger if you can. He’s a great guy and very friendly to the homebrew community. The single hop series they do blows away anything I’ve had from Mikkeller or Sam Adams. Of course it’s fresh here, but doing a single hop series with low gravity pale ales is the way to go instead of muddling the hops with caramel malt laden IPA’s. The IIMAXX when it’s on is one of my favorite all time IIPA’s. If your traveling to the Bay Area, this place is an absolute MUST!
Awesome location and ambiance. Not much on tap beside their stuff, which is just O.K. I know Rodger Davis will be improving on that, so I’m looking forward to experiencing the improvement and increasing the score.

Classic spot, good beer, great burger, good service, and proper glassware.
Very cool place. Almost a replica of Big Time in Seattle. Some good drinks, some bad drinks - overall was pleased with their stuff. Everything was on the more expensive side for what it was both grub and drink. Very nice atmosphere. fun place to hang out with your friends on a weekend.

Nice place, cool atmosphere. Pretty good selection of beers. Got beer from the bar, bartender was very helpful. Didn’t have any food, but it smelled great. Nice place
OLder Building kinda tight room wise. They like to run dim lighting in the evening which totally sucks in my opinion. The service was good considering the crowd size. The beer selection was decent with about 8 beers give or take. The food was hot and tasty. Decent value especially for California.
A friend took me here summer 2004. The place has a nice layout and a very comfortable atmosphere. The staff was outstanding, the bar tender knew everything about the beer, the brewing process and even told us about other local breweries to check out. I’m a big IPA fan, so this place was great considering they have a lot of hoppy beers, I recommend the cask IPA.
This brewpub is nice and roomy with a very open layout and a nice view of them making beer from the bar. The food is relatively cheap. I had a tasty grilled chicken sandwich on a roll with fries for $7. The rooftop patio is great for sipping beer in the sun and they had a wide variety of beers on tap with 5oz tasters available for $1.50. Overall the beer was good not super and I liked the food. I’ll be back.
A Bay Area classic and one of the first brew pubs around. Hoppy beers that were probably influential in establishing West Coast style. Classic looking place with slow but friendly service and good pub grub at student-friendly prices.
Great place. We were there for the Firkin Festival, and there were about 20 brewers from the Bay Area. Hard to rate since we were there during an event. Considering that, the service was amazing very friendly, and if they organize these kinds of events I assume that the selection is pretty good too.
I was here for the first time in April of 2006 and had a great time. I was here again last week (March 2008) with my brother who lives in Berkeley. Their IPAX is a really good and very fresh tasting beer. I wanted to try their MonkeyHead but we were there Wednesday and they only pour that one on Thursdays.
