Stopped by on a recent visit to SD. Nice clean and trendy tasting room, quiet on a Monday afternoon, but started to fill up with regulars as it got later. Tried a sampler, all decent beers, nothing great, but good. The beertender was helpful and knowledgeable about the beers and the brewery. Good selection of beers to go in the cooler.

Visited October 2013.

New location, just opened. I thought this warranted a new entry since the place is completely different in every regard aside from being on the same street. They’ve grown to a much larger system, they’ve expanded the number of taps greatly, they have real seating now (when I was at the old location we were told to sit on grain bags on top of kegs, no tables, and it looked kind of like a detention hall), they have a patio, and they have a fridge were you can buy beers to go. They also have these nice manzanita tap handles. The owner was bartending and was happy to answer questions. They have a wide range of styles to pick from including an oaked wheatwine. Unfortunately their beers haven’t improved all that much since when they started. They’re drinkable but nothing I would seek out again. No food served here and it’s kind of in a strange industrial area up against a residential area. Don’t think there are many restaurants near by. Prices were a little high on tasters. I imagine I’ll stop in again some day on the way to or from Alpine but this isn’t high on my list of places to revisit.
