Traditional "hospoda", far away from the touristic parts. Nice garden with frendly local people and very good berrs from Brewery Kacov and the beer Hubertus. Very good luch when we visit the Place in august 2014 and the service was also perfect The sun was shining so everybody was on top!
Visited July 2012. When you’re sitting outside the bar, enjoying you’re extremely cheap beer in the shadow of the big trees you are overlooking the Pankrác Prison. A very local hospoda with cheap beers. Trashy and smelly toilets, worn out and peeling walls. Got to love it! Worth the visit
This is my first rating.. help! A proper, old style, traditional "hospoda", miles away from the touristy pubs in the city centre. Beers are from Kacov brewery, in Central Bohemia: 10° svetle, 10° svetle Kvasnicove, 12° svetle, 12° svetle Kvasnicove, all fresh and very good at the incredible price of 19 and 21 Kc! (prices are for real..). Super. Jump on tram 18 from downtown and get off at stop Na Veseli.
Not as run-down as I was anticipating, but I suppose sitting outside on the terrace didn’t convey much atmosphere, though I had the pleasure of being incessantly stared at by the ugliest combat dog I’ve ever seen. In walking distance from Zlý Časy and definitely worth the detour, the drinkability of the beers on a hot summer’s day was unbelievable. Probably the cheapest half-litre of draught beer I’ve ever had to boot. Service is extremely friendly.

If you’re after rare ticks, this is a must visit place. If not, but you want to experience Prague, it’s still a must visit. The beers are solid, though not outstanding, but the place is completely unique. And of course, extremely cheap too.
Went there with my girlfriend as a challenge to the previous gutless raters. // The place seems out of the way at first, but it’s just over a 10-minute walk from Basta that you should visit anyway and Basta is already very close to Zly Casy that is an absolute must. And as far as the beers were concerned, I got more satisfaction at U Klkocnika than in any Prague brewpubs. For the Kacov beers that they serve are the epitome of your fresh, cerealic, brightly hopped pils. The filtered versions I found better than even Koutsky’s. As far as the place goes, we were there in June, so we used the simplistic terrace and had a nice, peaceful afternoon. The neighborhood is strange. On one side, suburban homes, on the other side, a dumping ground meets dog kennel meets barbwired fences. Really weird, but it’s a world of contrast isn’t it? Expect no English around here, but the staff was friendly and efficient while the patrons were as varied as they come with a healthy mix of old locals, Sunday cyclists and people who stopped by while walking their numerous dogs. It did not look like the cleanest place inside, but it was a lovely day, so there was no way we’d bathe in smoke inside. The prices are almost ridiculously low for Prague, less than 20 kc a pint.
Not so easy to find, actually quite difficult. On my way from Pivovar Bašta to U Klokočnika I’ve asked six or seven people and only last one knew. I was there at lunchtime and the place was full so I sit outside under lime-tree with view on prison and barb wire. Looks like old school building. Only two very cheap Kacov beers available.
You can say a lot about this place, but it has character. Nice and friendly, seriously smoky drinking den, located in what looks like an old school house in a slightly worn down area. Easily reached by foot from metro station Prazského Povstání. Occupied by chain smoking, beer drinking, middle aged locals and virtually tourist free (except the occasional beer hunter). Four Kacov beers on tap (two yeast beers). Friendly and efficient service. Prices are ... to say the least ... decent. We had six 50 cl beers, it cost us slightly below 4 Euros (6 USD), the Coca-Cola was more expensive than the beer (which is the way it should be). Definitely worth a detour, easily combined with the Pivovar Basta. As glouglouburp says, don’t bring a girlfriend, only people like us know how to appreciate a place like this.
