Street level bar and a beer hall downstairs. Beer is fairly limited, Pilsner Urquell. Good quality pub food. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and the clientele was a mixture of locals in the bar and tourists downstairs. The food menu is in Czech so ask the waiter! Nothing special energise.
A great old school (smoky and filled with Czechs) place to have tankova Pilsner near the Jewish Quarter. I have visited twice and had a beer standing up in the front taproom. Very smoky. Downstairs is large beerhall type seating. A good stop on a pub tour.
We visited 24.11.2013. Was our first Tankovna pub during our beer journey. Pilsner Urquell does taste so much better unpasteurized and the dense foam top does make it look also so much more delicious. Small pub on the basement and a larger, typical Czech beer restaurant in the cellar, nice pictures on the wall showing the old Pilsner brewery. Unfortunately no possibility to get a view on the beer tanks. Definitely recommend to come here.
in my opinion this the 2nd best tank pub for the urquell... yes it’s true nothing special can be seeing here but the beer is very good and we had a fantastic grilled meat so what else can you ask from a "pub" ???The upstairs area is more for the beer ; downstairs more restaurant
Went in on my mate’s urging to get out of a sudden rain shower. Pilsner Urquell was pretty tasty, but that’s about it. It’s all right, with a rather old-style beer hall feel. Not worth going for the beer--just go if you like old Czech neighborhood beer joints.
