This basement brewpub is hard to find, but well worth the effort. The brewing equipment is visible from the seating area, which consists of 3 small tables. On a Sunday afternoon there was an informal Bluegrass oriented band playing. There is an underground ambience to the place that makes for an interesting time. The 8 beers on tap were excellent to fabulous and can be consumed in pints or in taster flilghts. The barkeep (owner?) was very helpful and friendly. A nice stop.

Visited August 2016. Tricky to find, in the basement of a building. Taproom literally in amonst the brewery, quirky! Selection of around 6 to 8 taps, their beer are very decent. I wasn't an afficionado of the brewery so pethaps foolishly didn't investigate the takeaway bottles, plenty of folk were coming in for them though. It was my first stop in Portland, glad I found it!

Make sure you have a good idea of where you are headed when going here- like many others I walked past it a few times before finding it. In the basement of an office building. The smell of grain hits you as you walk in. You are basically on the brewery floor and you sit among the equipment and barrels aging some of their offerings. Friendly service. Great prices on their stellar beer. I wish I had more time to spend here, but the concert was about to start down the street at Moda Center (which makes this a great pre-event spot for a brew). HIghly enjoyable experience.

In about a quarter after seven on the first Thursday in July 2017. Located in the basement so don’t hang out in the coffee shop on the ground floor looking for their beer, though the coffee shop folks were super helpful in navigating us to the brewery. Definitely an ad hoc tasting space, unlike the other pile of breweries I’d visited so far in Portland. You’re situated among the brewing equipment, with tables tossed wherever a few free feet of space existed. Floors are wet in places from brewing happening. Barrels all around. Cash only, so be prepared. However, pours are $2 at most for the five ounce size, and scale up quite reasonably after that. 10 beers on when we went. Worth a visit if you can get in there. A nice stop on a long day that had already included a few others, Labrewatory, and Ex Novo nearby are worth a visit as well.

OK, this one was a serious PITA to find. Circled the area 4 times and found the building (just a small sidewalk sign). Got in the building and finally found out to go down in the basement. Seems like you are drinking in someone’s unfinished basement surrounded by barrels. Great upright beers and a do not miss place for sure!

Wow, what a great ’hidden gem’. Hidden, because this basement bar is not easy to find. We were unable to find it just prior to opening time, until a sign was put on the sidewalk indicating where to enter. In this small basement bar you can sit among the barrels and brewing equipment. Rough and unpolished, there’s no bar, the guy was serving tap beer from taps that come out of a wall. Great atmosphere if you’re into the rough brewery atmosphere. The guy was spinning mad funk/soul vinyls, right up my alley. Beers vary from good to great, I had a couple of exceptional Sours. Bottles are available for on-site consumption or take-away. This was truly on of our highlights in Portland. Cash only.

What a fabulous place. Hang out deep inside the brewery itself. Extremely reasonably priced pours (and pitchers of Four Play, as Chris loves to point out). Beer is very good, interesting selection of bottles to go, friendly staff. Was fairly busy for a Saturday afternoon, finding a seat might be tough at times I bet. I truly enjoyed this stop and will be back.

Okay, to find this place. Walk in the resturuant that faces towards downtown. Look for restroom signs. Walk past the restroom and down the steps. Walk into brewery. The "tasting room" is frankly just hanging out in the brewery by the fermenters and barrels which is pretty freaking cool. No food. Liquid dinner so to speak. Sicker procured for fridge.

In the basement of its building which makes it difficult to find when the sign isn’t outside yet. But once inside, you find the cozy comfort of a very tiny taproom/brewery. $3 12 ounce pours! Amazing deal for the quality of beer. Cheap tasters as well. All cash only. Well worth the visit. Bottles also available for purchase.

This place sure confused the hell out of my Uber driver. Luckily they put a sign out front. Really cool feel as its basically a hole in the wall that’s producing great beer. Mostly the beers you can get everywhere but Four Play on tap is worth the trip. Fun little place.
