The place was quite hard to find. I walked through some political conference upstairs before finally finding the stairs to the basement. It’s almost like the brewery is in a dungeon. The beers were VERY interesting even if I didn’t love them. Not too far from downtown, so I would recommend it for a Portland brewery tour.

This basement brewpub is hard to find, but well worth the effort. The brewing equipment is visible from the seating area, which consists of 3 small tables. On a Sunday afternoon there was an informal Bluegrass oriented band playing. There is an underground ambience to the place that makes for an interesting time. The 8 beers on tap were excellent to fabulous and can be consumed in pints or in taster flilghts. The barkeep (owner?) was very helpful and friendly. A nice stop.

One of the very best places in America’s best Beer town. Go to Upright, you won’t be disappointed.

I was so happy to tour and try a few beers here. A old friend of mine brews here Alex and I have judged brews together for years. It is an odd place will need to be on your toes when looking for it The place is down the stars and if your near the Rose garden then you are close. Great feel, loved the open tanks they are going to do well. Food is very limited to none.

OK, I loved this place. It was in a basement. It was hard to find with impossible hours. Almost no seating. Wait, but there were tons of happy people! Prices super fair. The guy pouring the beer knew a ton (I think he brewed as well). It was a great location for true beer nerds. The non-beer geeks would never find it. Lots of chatting between groups.

Cool location down in the basement. Smaller than some of the other tasting rooms with about 8 taps. Friendly staff though and nice selection if mustards for sale.

Probably my favourite brewery to drink in that we visited. Enjoyed sitting right in the brewery and enjoyed the record player. Prices were good and beers were great. Must visit place I think. Quite a few taps and some bottles too. Great place.

Wow, what a great ’hidden gem’. Hidden, because this basement bar is not easy to find. We were unable to find it just prior to opening time, until a sign was put on the sidewalk indicating where to enter. In this small basement bar you can sit among the barrels and brewing equipment. Rough and unpolished, there’s no bar, the guy was serving tap beer from taps that come out of a wall. Great atmosphere if you’re into the rough brewery atmosphere. The guy was spinning mad funk/soul vinyls, right up my alley. Beers vary from good to great, I had a couple of exceptional Sours. Bottles are available for on-site consumption or take-away. This was truly on of our highlights in Portland. Cash only.

OK, this one was a serious PITA to find. Circled the area 4 times and found the building (just a small sidewalk sign). Got in the building and finally found out to go down in the basement. Seems like you are drinking in someone’s unfinished basement surrounded by barrels. Great upright beers and a do not miss place for sure!

Really neat basement brewery. Laid back vibe. Good 70s music on the turntable. Board and dice games are available to play. Prices are good. Beer was interesting and good as well.

easy to get lost heading down to this subterrainian brewer, especially if you’ve had a few. Love the place and the beer, though. Always multiple unique beers on, as well as special bottle releases, etc...
