I have been into this place 20 or so times on many a visit to Burlington, for this fest or that fest. Has a two sided bar, one smoking and one non, and me and my buddy would always snag a seat at the non. Decent beer selection. One year we even got a crack at the "Special beer lover" taps that were off limits unless it was found that you were a true beer geek. I even got Greg Noonan’s autograph one year (LOL). He does special tastings every once and a while and if you can get to know Greg a bit, it is worth it. Greg invited us to an Alaskan Smoked Porter vertical tasting one year. The beer in my opinion is generally average, with the occasional outstanding find on proper timing. Food is decent. Atmosphere is very friendly, making it a fun hang out.
Ended our Saturday night here after Foam and the Farmhouse, so those are tough to be measured up against. Nice place. Good fast service since not crowded. I'm not a dry stout fan but I wanted something stouty after a day full of DIPA's. I did not finish it.
Big crowded pub, sort of combining American sports bar with British pub. Comparing to The Farmhouse both beers and food is a step down. Rather noisy, so conversations at the bar was at a minimum. Efficient service.
Visited on a Saturday later in the afternoon. The place is right in the heart of Burlington. Pretty big place with a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. I had a seat at the staging seats across from the bar. I had only one beer, as they were busy and I want to move along to the next place quickly. My beer was decent. Service was fast and attentive. Since the beer isn’t much to talk about, I wouldn’t recommend going, but it seems to be a bit of an institution in the Burlington beer scene.
Well established brewpub in centre of town. It was a warm night, so we sat out on the raised terrace outside (didn’t really take a look at the interior). Was not terribly busy on the Thursday that we visited. Thought the tap selection was a little pedestrian. I tried two beers - the Bombay Grab IPA and the Conan the Barbarian 2IPA (a seasonal), both of which were pretty good. The food was a bit of a mixed affair - I had the fish bake, which was quite good but my wife’s pasta dish was rather bland. Prices on food and drinks were good. Not bad but definitely not a must visit.
This is a really old school place. Dark and dated interior, definitely a local pub feel to it. Kind of a neat oval shaped bar, though.
Probably hasn’t been much updating to the beer menu or recipes here in a long time, and you can kind of tell. They’re making the same old school brewpub beers that have been around forever, and they’re not really even that great. The IPA, for instance, was undrinkable. They do at least have a special beer or two on at a time, it seems. Otherwise you’re drinking Hefeweizen, amber ale, dry stout, pale ale, etc.
Service was fine and friendly. And unlike Juniper, which we had just had a drink at, this place is cheap. Flights are $1.25 each and pints are $6. I don’t think I’d really try to come back here.
Large restaurant/brewpub in central Burlington. Their house brews are fairly basic, if not boring. Beer flight available. Pub-style food is decently priced but quality is pretty average. Service was a bit rude and not very helpful.Average place in many ways, unimpressed.
Stopped in for a couple beers and dinner while in Burlington. The bar had a darker, older feel, and was pretty nice and cozy on a cold night, along with sports on TV and plenty of tables to eat. The service was perfectly efficient and effective, and handled all of our requests smoothly. They had a pretty good selection of house beers, with a fairly wide range of types and styles. We ordered fairly standard bar food and it was good, but nothing exceptional. The prices were good, and it was a very positive experience overall with decent beer.
Visited 7-14. Was pretty dark inside and not too busy. Seems quite outdated and in need of some TLC and cleaning. Service was pretty good, but it did take about 10 to 15 minutes to get beers at the bar. There was something wrong with their tap system and the beer was very warm. It kept foaming and foaming, which is why it took so long. It was a watermelon wheat, so luckily it being luke warm wasn’t terrible. Ok selection, but not the greatest. I didn’t eat there, but a few people around us had food. Fish fry looked decent. Value was pretty good, the beers were reasonably priced. Don’t think I’d go back without some updating to the place though.
Great location right in the middle of town and across the street from Zero Gravity Flatbread. They were out of a few beers on my visit and I only had time to try a couple of them. Neither was exciting, but both were decent. Feels this place could use a little updating. They’ve been around for 25ish years, and I’m sure even 10 years ago I would have been a lot more excited by this place, but with the way craft beer has developed in that time and the number of new places that have opened in the Burlington area, it seems like they haven’t quite been able to keep up.
