Used to be known as Crater Brewing, but has changed hands and names since then. This place is primarily a U-brew, but they have an off-licence as well as a small attached bar. Seems to be popular as a place for locals to watch rugby games. Cavernous interior makes it a little sterile. They brew 5 beers (I didn’t see any grain at all, so I think they are all extract beers). Despite the beers different names and appearances, they taste remarkably similar. You can get 2L flagons refilled as well for the low price of $6 each. Friendly brewer but didn’t really gather why I would want to try different beer after I already knew what I liked. Worth stopping at after you do some Zorbing in Rotorua. If nothing else, it’ll be one of the cheaper drinks you’ll find in NZ.
