it’ll always be the cask & cutler to me...
the range is perhaps not as exciting as when Neil & Sheila were there, but I still get plenty of new beers, and crucially the quality is there. Also good that it now opens all day.
Just a shame they replaced Magus the cat with a rancid beige sh1t-machine!
UPDATE Feb ’16. Pub temporarily closing for refit following takeover. Beer range not as good as it used to be, new owner ’buys to price’ so nothing exciting, and the Little Ale Cart (now Neepsend) beers are nowhere near as good as they used to be
Visited during the evening of Friday 18th December 2015. The map doesn’t show the location which is around the corner from Shalesmoor tram stop. Nice old local boozer, nothing fancy or modern. Good range of Little Ale Cart beers and a few guests. Beer well looked after, prices good. Service good. Handy stop off and worthy of a look in.
Visited several times, among others during the summer gathering :-).. Even though it is placed a bit outside city center easy to get to. Nice selection of beers, guest beers as well as their own. Friendly and helpfull staff. Think this one is very much a local one :-)..But for sure worth a visit.
Maybe my favourite place I went to in Sheffield. Very old school boozer with clientele to match. Loved the blackboard apologising for the high price of the Bonobo (£3.20!), and the useful info about the beers too. Stayed for a couple but could easily have had a few more.
Overall my favourite pub in Sheffield. Frindly staff and customers welcome you to chat at the bar or you can sit in 2 lounges, good choice of ales (Little Ale Cart brewed on site and guests). Viz comics available for reading in a loung and feature picture-framed "Real Ale Tw*ts" on the walls to the toilets!! Excellent quirky pub with loads of character.
Traditional boozer located in North Sheffield. The sort of place with loads of old bearded dudes supping ale. Nice selection of well-kept ale with four Little Ale Cart brews on when we visited, as well as some local guests. A nice touch is the blackboard behind the bar with descriptions of each beer. Friendly and prompt service and very good value. A worthy stop on a pub crawl in North Sheffield.
Great traditional pub in Shalesmoor. Tap house for Little ale cart brewery, around the back of the pub. Ever changing selection of ale cart beers as well as guests. Great staff and very friendly customers. Not sure if the pubs been decorated in 50 years, but that only adds to the charm. Highly recommended.
Tap for the Little Ale Cart brewery and had a few of their delicious hoppy Goldens on when I visited. Fantastic multi roomed traditional pub, which is an essential stop on the Valley of Beer crawl. I loved this place.
