Store is a little out of the way and tricky to find. It is worth it though, best selection I have ever seen of many hard to find brews.
Talked to the staff for a little while and got some great info from them. Will stop by every time I am in the area.
This is easily my favorite liquor store in the world. It’s a corner neighborhood liquor store run by very passionate folks. Space is limited, but it’s full of rare micros and imports (they’re the first in the area (and sometimes the only store around) to get new Mikkeller, Nogne O, and other Shelton Bros. imports among other stuff). They hold tastings with brewers such as Mikkeller (that was a blast!) and are very knowledgable about their products. Prices are excellent, especially considering the scale of the store compared with Sam’s and Binny’s. I stop here every time I’m in the area and will recommend it to anyone who will listen.

I’ve been to West Lakeview several times and can’t say enough about the staff and selection. Events are some of the best in the city, free beer and food plus Brewers to talk to. Great selection, always receptive staff, and an important factor is that they don’t leave everything out, limiting people to buy a couple and leave some for everyone else: a factor I really enjoy. Special stuff and unique offerings to Chicago are regular and free parking plus a nice cooler section for "Drink It Now" choices is a big plus. One of the best stores in Chicago for sheer breadth of selection plus the only place to find some breweries and the best place to find a lot of stuff from oversears. Not sure why people are rating this place when all they did is mail order from them..
In terms of hard to acquire beers, this place takes the cake for me in my experience. Beyond the great service and owner is the great selection. It may not be as large as other stores but the quality and great staff easily make up for it. I spend way too much money here...
Located on the corner of West Addison and some other non-Addison street and surrounded by a reddish awning with West Lakeview Liquors emblazoned on it. As for parking, we lucked out in a spot along the street. The store itself is small, but definitely cozy, neat as a pin, and well-stocked (both with good beer and good people).
At the helm of this classy establishment (provided I have my facts straight) is a very nice young lady quick to offer both assistance and friendly suggestions. The rest of the staff seemed to be made up of knowledgable beer enthusiasts well-versed in their comparably priced wares.
Unlike the distinguished Acknud, I did not grab any cider or perry, instead I snatched up a basket filled to capacity with various bottles from Southern Tier, Founders (Blushing Monk), Three Floyds, Goose Island, Dark Horse, Hoppin’ Frog, etc. The bombers and other large-sized bottles are arranged on wooden shelves lining the store, the bulk of the 6/4-packs are placed in coolers. Definitely a recommended beer shop stop when in the Chicago area. Why, I’d be back there right this very moment if I weren’t 698 miles away in Georgia.

This is by far the best bottle shop I have ever encountered in the city of chicago. I ended up staying and talking beer for about a half an hour. Needless to say this place is a must for any beer enthusiast.
This place has an absolutely incredible selection of beers you won’t find anywhere else not to mention they are such ballers that Mikkeller brews a specialty beer only available here. Staff is very knowledgeable and they have some killer cheeses and other beer parable foods and other in the back.
This place is da bomb. There is a reason this place it’s number 1. Friendliest and most helpful staff ever. The selection is mind numbing. So much quality stuff here. Pricing is very reasonable. Just come here when you’re in town.
If you want to find rare things in bottles in Chicago, this is where you’ll find them. Small shop with extensive worldly collection. Knowledgeable friendly staff. Downside is don’t go here expecting to stock up. Usually only two of a given beer on the shelf. Often times 4/6 packs of the good stuff are broken up and sold as singles. Very clean, organized by country of origin. A bit more expensive than some others, but definitely worth a stop. Best overall beer shop in Chicago. Period.
Great liquor store with a massive sellection of sought after brews. In the cellar the stock is kept at ideal conditions. If I am correctthere are plans to take the neighbour building to and almost double the space!
