This market’s beer selection is fantastic. Equally impressive is it’s keg offerings and it’s beer and wine tastings conducted the 1st friday of every month from 6pm to 8pm. They just added the troegs lineup of beer which I’m personally excited about. Definitely a place to acquire excellent beer.
Westover offers the best of West Arlington. Since the addition of the beerhaus (7/28/11), they have taken it to the next level. One of the best beer selections in the area to buy in the market, and an excellent bar, deli, and outdoor beer garden to enjoy as well. Sandwiches and 10 taps to chose from inside at the beerhaus and I can’t wait until they get their permits in order to have music gigs again outside at the garden. If you are looking for a great beer selection, grocery shopping, and a friendly, local staff then this is the place. Great hang out, great beer!
Great find for me in the NoVA area (in the neato independent-based Westover neighborhood), as once the "beer in supermarkets" novelty wore off I began to miss the selections of NJ’s better stores....the prices are middling to fair but the selection is astounding for a neighborhood supermarket, with plenty more still to try
I just moved to DC and was pleasantly surprised to find Westover Market located a mere 3-minute walking distance from my new house. It is a nice little market with a very impressive selection. The only department its really lacking in is the lambic department. They have a nice little outdoor beer garden where they serve about 5 different draft beers, frequently rotating and usually very nice selections. They have fires going outside in the winter to keep customers warm as they watch one of the two large plasma screen TVs, or simply chat amongst each other over a few beers. A pretty laid back and friendly crowd of the middle aged generation. This is my new beer home, and I am quite happy with that.
A dozen changing beers on draft -- all interesting. A thousand bottles in the store that can be served with the bar menu. Outside seating in warm weather. Nice suburban option to the DC beer destinations.
At first I thought that this was the worst stocked grocery store I had ever seen. Then I realized their refrigeration system was out because of Hurrican Sandy. The beer selection, though, was amazing, and included two from Maine Beerand three from Clown Shoes, for instance. Very high prices, friendly staff. Attached cafe, which I did not try, was packed and the food looked good.
A grocery store with a cool outside bar area on weekends, adorned with a small bar and several fire-places. Service was average. Selection of bottles is very good. Tap selection was limited but strong. Good draft and bottle prices. I will be going back.
Was referred to this place by a co-worker, was surprised not to find it added to RB until now. It’s pretty much an urban grocery store (right across the street from Lost Dog Cafe) with quite an expansive beer selection once you enter and turn right towards the back (their Wall of Beer). They have a very good selection of US micros like Bells, Stone, Victory, Bear Republic, etc. There’s nothing here that you can’t already get at other good Northern Virginia stores like Norm’s or Whole Foods EXCEPT for a couple Southern Tier beers (I saw UnEarthly IIPA and Hoppe). Compared to their US micros, their Belgian selection is somewhat limited but what they carry is good (Brasserie des Rocs Grand Cru, etc.). I met the proprietor, really nice guy. He said his son runs the beer section but he wasn’t in that day. I have the feeling that if I did meet the beer guy, he would most-likely be super helpful. A pretty passionate beer selection for a grocery store. Worth checking out for your everyday beer needs or if visiting the area. Oh, and one HUGE plus for those of us that enjoy beers best drunk fresh (IPAs, Pils) almost their entire shelf stock is refrigerated.
