We popper in here as its on the CAMRA 101 Beer Days Out list for Oxford. It was very busy so standing room only. There were a few cask ales on offer, but nothing too exciting. The atmosphere was good become a Spanish band was playing, but its not great having to stand at the bar.

Nov ’14 Rating 62. Always a very touristy pub, it is on just about on every walking tour. Little in the way of anything unusual on the beer front but the atmosphere is cracking.
Rating 70. The White Horse is making a comeback in terms of beer. The boring old range is being replaced with interesting guests and the whole pub has blossomed again because of it.Small and cramped but packed with character, a must now on any Oxford tour.
Updated Dec ’12 - This remains a very characterful pub, very popular and tight, particularly around the bar. It is certainly a must visit for people new to Oxford for its ambiance and location.

Visited in June 2014. A couple of interesting cask ales to try here. A very small pub with low ceilings. I heard it is part of a tour so could be allot of tourists here.

Visited several time over the years and this is my favourite pub in Oxford .. I know there are better pubs with bigger selection but I always met nice people in here that’s why I have this special feel for it .. Long and narrow it’s better come here in the middle afternoon when you can sit at the bar ..

Really nice pub in the centre of Oxford. Nice ambiance (traditional) and a nice selection of (local) beers. Food is ok and traditional pub-food. A good tip for whoever goes to oxford and is in search of a place to take a break.

If you like your pubs long and thin you’ll love this place: if you don’t like crowds and enjoy you own space, you’ll hate this place. You step down into a wide corridor someone turned into a pub some years back. We liked it as we forced our way towards the rear once I’d managed to order the round for the 6 of us on our crawl (23rd Nov 2013). I couldn’t really see much because of the masses but it looked twee and nicely attired. There was a picture of the 1923 Wembley crowd with the ’White Horse’ and a Cask Ale in his name ’Billie’, I had a pint of it!

Decent place. Beer was disappointing, though, even by British standards. Numbers of bland session beers. Nothing out of the ordinary.

We did a nice crawl of town and this was my favorite pub, atmospherically. If you like yours tight and cozy then you might agree. The patronage was varied, and didn’t feel as obnoxiously touristy as most. The beers were in top form, but it’s not a "ticker" pub. They don’t play music, either. Which adds rather than detracts from the atmosphere.

Another regular on any Oxford jaunt and whilst the beer choice maybe a little limited compared to some, you will almost always find one of the Shotover beers are on offer and in cracking nick. This really is one of the most cosy and welcoming pubs in the centre, just the sort of pub that deserves a visit on a cold winters day. The big table by the window is my favourite. It can and usually does get very busy but it really is worth popping into. Great pub, good service and very central.
