Whole Foods is an excellent grocery that can be expected to have good quality regardless of their location. They are committed to the quality of their food and will not stock items with artifical colors or preservatives. Their focus is on having a good beer selection, not stocking the best-selling brands. That said, their prices are not competitive to the large liquor stores, although this Louisville store has some very interesting selections not available from the Liquor Barns.
Definitely one of the "old school" locations... reminded me a lot of the first store I worked in. Friendly staff, though I got no help in the beer section. Moderate sized beer section... seems a little haphazard but there are some good selections. Lots of local beers and some less common offerings. Decent sized selection of singles. Not really worth going out of your way, but, solid stop if you’re in the area.
Visited early evening on a Thursday. Easy to find right off of I-264 and Shelbyville Road. Traditional Whole Foods layout, cold beers in a cooler, larger format beers on an end cap. The selection was above average for Whole Foods, Boon Geuze, Three Floyds, etc. Good for a Whole Foods, though better options nearby in Louisville. As mentioned, growler station is a nice addition.
64 = ★★ (Just ok)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
Overview: Probably not much different than any other Whole Foods you’re likely to walk into. Nice selection of everything- at a price. Never really seen a "beer person" here, but somebody here knows what to buy. They’ve added a growler station, and you can also buy single pints or bottles/cans for consumption on premises. Actually think the prices here, beer wise, are pretty competitive. PROS: New growler station/beer consumption on premises; nice diverse selection. CONS: Would like more beer related service, less money to Planned Parenthood. Overall: If you don’t care where you money goes (or maybe you do) it’s a fine place to buy beer.
For consistency, if I do not eat food on site, I am marking food as N/A. Great slection for a grocery store, and if you happen to be there when the beer buyer is working, you can get some good suggestions. Clean and well organised.
A nice surprise.....decent beer selection, a good selection of singles....a little high on cost, but handy if you are going there to get some quality food....didn’t have my Maker’s Mark Gourmet Sauce, but still a cool store...go there just for the smell.
This place has one long aisle of refrigerated brews and a good size end cap of unrefrigerated singles. The selection was not that much, but they had some good stuff. My wife and I like the food, so we will likely be back. Prices in Kentucky are higher than I am used to.
You can find beers here that may be out at the bigger liquor stores. Selection is good but is growing/getting better. Prices are at least a $1 higher than other places. Would go back to this place if I was having problems finding certain beers.
