Lloyds arm of the JDW chain. Manager keen to push real ale and has improved the quality and choice in the last couple of years. Bit of a hen and stag venue on the Botchergate drag, noisy at weekends, okay for getting a late cask ale though, even during the week. 8 handpumps, with Greedy King, Jennings and Cumberland brewery amongst the permanents.

Visited on 18th February 2017. Lloyds version of Spoons a couple of doors down from the other Spoons and a little closer to the station. Vast single roomed venue, standard Spoons décor, packed with local drinkers but surprisingly efficient service. Had a cracking pint of Windermere Pale on cask, a reasonable range of other beers on, prices good. Decent Spoons.

Typic JDW. Huge bar, tons of big screens. Decent selection of beers, incl a few local ones on tap.

Bog standard Spooneria (Lloyds in this case) a quick 4 or 5 minute dash from Carlisle station. Visited on 21/10/13 during the JDW real ale fest so hard to tell what the range would be like on a normal day, that said there were a good half dozen fest beers on cask. Service was OK, one bloke on his own which was fine for 4pm but of course I was in a rush and stuck behind someone with the ’AS BOOKED - you’re in a rush Spoons order’ ie coffee, spirits, wine and being indecisive about the whole shabang - fucking fuckers !!! It’s a spoons, the service will be ropey at times, you might get a tick but there’ll be nothing deviating outside the 3.5-5% ABV range of bitters and GB’s and maybe a guest collab and the occasional dark offering. That could be a generic and accurate review for 90% of Spoons ! And add in the case of this one as per many others - dark inside with natural light only coming from the frontage, ex shop/bank conversion etc.

Funkier JD Wetherspoons decor, darker in design and dimly lit, marketed as a Lloyds Bar to try and cater for a younger crowd. Menu the same as all Spoons, but does show live football from all the major channels and gets busy during these.
