Went here a lot back when I was in college at UH and on a couple trips back to HI. Itís not much different than any other Yard House. Big beer selection although nothing too special. No flights at least as of the last time I was there which is the biggest letdown. But overall a good place.
In the middle of the tourist hubub. Massive bar with tons of taps. Flights are pre-set, though, and there is no Hawaiian flights. They were also "out of" small glasses when I visited, so were serving only pints (suspiciously enough). Still, they do have half a dozen local beers - not just Kona and Maui but also Hawaiian and Mehana. Food was tasty. Worth a look.
"130 taps" sounds quite impressive. And yeah, it kinda is, but when you check what beers are on the menu itís a bit disappointing. Almost all the beers are really common ones but for Honolulu itís not bad. The location is good, there are some local (HI) beers available and the food is decent. The prices are Hawaii prices - very high. Flights available but only three predefined ones - Hawaiian, Belgian and IPA. Even if I wasnít super thrilled about this place I visited it three times during my 8-day stay in Honolulu.
I guess you can say if youíve been to one Yard House youíve been to them all...but different locations matter (great to have this in the Beach Walk area...would be out of place elsewhere in Hawaii)...and of course the selections are always changing...and with the volume of choices at a Yard House...I would never write them off...just compare them to their competition instead...like World of Beer. What worked for me was that this Yard House was literally "in" the hotel I was staying at (Embassy Suites). As such, even landing around 4PM from an 11 hour flight from Newark and arriving at the hotel about 5:30...we had time to check-in...have a few beers at Yard House...and make our dinner at Royís (also in the Embassy...lol!) by 7PM! The point is...I donít dislike Yard Houses at all...they serve a great craft beer purpose and are a good business model...of course Iíll always choose a bonafide craft beer location over a Yard House or WOB if given the chance (hence my visit the "REAL" the following night). Still...Iíve given them a good score...for selection and location at the very least.
Way over rated. Yeah for a Yardhouse, this is decent, but Hono has upped its game. Real, Honolulu Beerworks, Brewíd and Kona kill this place. The reason why people like it is because it is in Waikiki proper, but WTF why do people judge a place based on location? Good end of night pub close to the hotel or a place to watch NFL, but as a stand alone bar, not super interesting.
