Cozy and classic English pub with 11 cask taps and 21 other taps as well as a bottle selection that is OK. The Nicholson pub chain have had St. Austell brew a Nicholson pale ale that you can get here. I also appreciate a printed tasting guide brochure for the cask ales and ciders. They also serve pub food but I did not eat.

Never been to a Nicholson’s before, but had heard good things about them before coming here. Very busy on a Saturday afternoon, nice sort of buzz to the place though and was served quickly and efficiently by friendly staff despite there being plenty of people at the bar. Cask selection seemed a little bit disappointing compared to a ’Spoons, but the keg range was better (although nothing unusual there either). Prices not too bad for London, but obviously nowhere as cheap as a ’Spoons would be. We sat outside in the large and pleasantish pavement seating area, very nice for watching the world go by (or at least that part of the world that was in Islington on a Saturday afternoon). Might have stayed for another had we not been driven away by a sudden thunderstorm. Overall a pleasant enough place, but (if we’re comparing chains), ’Spoons beat it on price, and on cask selection.

Street corner Nich’s a few minutes walk from Angel tube. L-shaped bar, low lighting, trad pub interior and usually doing a brisk business but rarely packed. Middle of the table in terms of this chain, standard house casks -Doom, Pride, St Austells Nichs Pale, Trumans Runner plus a couple of SIBA offerings on my 09/01/15 visit, Woodfordes and Copper Dragon so forgive me if I dont cum with excitement. You pass by this place if you walk from Angel to the Earl of Essex. pass by usually the norm for me but you may pick up the odd cask tick.

Just stopped by for a quick beer on my way to Angel from Earl of Essex on a Sunday afternoon. Standard pub with okay service. The selection is basically the same as in all other Nicolson’s with an exception or two and they only had one new beer for me.

A Nicholson’s pub worthy of a visit and close to the commercial centre of Islington on Upper Street. It’s nicely decorated inside in traditional style, although you’ll experience little of this if the football is on as this is a popular place to either drink in before or watch the action on the big screen. The real ale selection is good as expected from this chain.
