Ok, you don’t go here if you want perky waitresses that will faun all over you. This is a bar and has great beer at a good price. I was here in November 2011. I had a wonderful afternoon. The doorman was surly, as were the bartenders, but they were also pleasant. They have bike parking in the beer garden. Another great aspect of this place is the beer garden and inside/outside food counter. Standard bar food, cheap. The pool table is level and in good shape.
Metal on the speakers at 3pm on a Friday, and a electric fireplace in the middle of the room near the door and the bar. It is worth a visit.
Perhaps my new favorite place in the city. Can’t believe I’ve never come here before, kind of ashamed, actually. The bar itself is dark and not terribly large. Cash only, really divey. A huge list of taps covering all sorts of styles. Your obligatory Pliny and Moonlight handles and plenty of other good things from the Bay Area and California in general. Service was good, though the bar was a bit on the dead side. Step outside to the patio/beer garden and you’ve got yourself a winner. Huge space with lots of picnic tables and trees, and you’re sort of under the overpass for 101.
Divey, biker metal/punk bar with a few tables and billiards inside, and an awesome beer garden outside. Service was quick and friendly enough. Selection was great, a whole bunch of local draught and some killer selections otherwise. Cash only, but the prices are pretty low for a big city. Definitely a cool spot.
Visited the 12th February 2015 - Between Mission and the Downtown, you will find the Zeitgeist. Ambiance is heavy metal and stoner with good beer and cocktails. All what I like ! I have been there for the event : Anderson Valley during the beer week. The selection of beer is really amazingg with 50 taps, I thinks it’s the biggest selection on tap I have never seen! Price are nice and service is clean. The staff is really friendly as the people inside. The place is not so clean but it’s ok and you will like the beer garden outside! Really exclusive for San Francisco! A good place if you like good beer and heavy metal. The place is on the same philosophy as the Toronado.
Visited on a Saturday evening in March 2016. The place was not crowded at all, probably because of the bad weather.
I liked this place, it was rather dark but with a quick and friendly service. The selection was nice, 50 taps. I would love to sit in the beer garden during a nice summer evening.
I also liked the fact that one was not allowed to take photos at this place.

Aproximately 60 taps of local (regional breweries) with some classical european repertoair. Decent climate.
My favorite beer bar in the city. Always a few really good micros and local seasonals on tap, but pitchers are cheap and the company is good. Sierra Nevada and a couple of the other local micros test out new taps here, making the selection even more interesting. Last time I was here there was a Sierra Nevada impy stout, two months prior to the Anniversary bottle release of the same beer. Bartenders are wicked skillful pulling multiple taps at a time and mixing up complex drinks in between. The courtyard with its communal tables is usually packed with boisterous, gregarious revelers. An unforgettable SF mission experience almost every visit.
Absolutely loved this place. My type of bar. Great jukebox, great draft selection. Bear Republic, Russian River etc. Huge outdoor seating that was jamed. Little old lady selling Tamales. Loaded with walks of every kind. Suits, preps, punks, bikers everything. A true taste of what san Francisco is. Once of the best bars I’ve been to.
