For me the most sympathic place in the Altstadt of Düsseldorf, naturally easy to find.
At my visit in March it wasn’t crowdy, so I enjoyed my Uerige Alt and Weizen well on tap, but didn’t eat there.
Prices, service and crew was correct for such a frequented place like this.
Ambience and atmosphere was nice, liked it overall.
The beer-counting was affine to my experiences in Prague a couple of years ago.
2016 august. One of the most highly regarded alt brauhaus of Dusseldorf. Conservative and old-fashioned, just what I want. Sat inside by barrel instead of table, took a few stange of their alt, while observing what is happening around. Pleasant experience to see, how Kobes roll full barrels of alt through the room.
Visited 11.10.17. Definitely the best Altbier place in town. Big and tidy. Got scolded and publicly shamed by the server when I asked for the Weizen that I haven't rated. This calls for 10 in service and 5 in ambiance. High prices like everything in the city.
Def the biggest of the Alt-Brewery-places. The place is devided little and big rooms, a very wooden interior. This is damn cosy . The waiters were ( as most in Dusseldorf ) very hasty, not interested in ( capable of? ) an informative chat about their beer. They serve 1 beer only, which is their regular Alt. Price was the highest I paid in Dusseldorf, which is still not expensive ( 2.5 for 25cl ) Their alt was the best to me, but the place wasn't. No music, no chat possible... pretty boring if you're visiting alone. I drank my alt and left.
I visited on a Saturday night at the start of Oktoberfest. It was incredibly busy; even hard to find a place to stand on the street. Nevertheless I got fairly quick service. There was little apparent choice - Alt or Alt. I would definitely go back, and see how it is when (if) it is quieter.Well worth a visit.
Located in the heart of the Old Town, this venue is huge, occupying several halls inside the building and having tables even on the other side of the street. Apart from the reguaær Alt (and Weizen in summer), one can buy the excellent Sticke and Doppel-Sticke in bottles to take away (they are only on tap in season) but finding the exact spot to do so is not easy, and there is no guarantee the beer will be in stock. Busy but polite staff - not excessively friendly, though. Did not try the food.
Well, famous and crowdy, for a good reason perhaps, this place is, IMHO, a little overrated, compared to some other brewpubs in town. Worth a visit but perhaps not a second one.
Ambiance - Very big German brewpub with lots of different rooms with different themed decor. we sat down in the bar area which was rather small with plenty of people in a good mood. Cozy place! Service - Friendly. Selection - Their alt which is very good and a weisse that was solid. Food - Did not eat. Value - Fair. Additional comments - None!
