68 Visited on Monday 20/05/13 around 8pm.
Trendy-ish gastro brewpub with tiled floor and largely low seated tables with plastic chairs.
Food was good quality if somewhat small portions and pricey.
House beers, 5 on my visit, were available in a taster and were generally pretty decent.
Service fine and prompt although the place was perhaps only half full.
Worth a look for some ticks and good food but pretty pricey, even for Manhattan. When we got the check the prices didn’t match what was printed on the menu, to our disadvantage, so keep an eye out for that.

78 This is an interesting place that seems to be a high end restaurant first and a brewery second. I think my girlfriend and I were the only two people there for the beer; everyone else seemed to be there just because of the food and because there were drinks. The place looks like a real hip, sleek, and cool place from a slightly bygone era (think Manhattan 2000s cool, not Brooklyn 2010s cool). Similarly, the food was quite expensive and even though we came on an empty stomach, we passed on ordering anything (not that it didn’t look good). On to the beer. It was pretty good. Some of them were rather unique. $8 a pint is not bad, especially in light of the fact that places like Eataly are charging $10. The bartender and waitress were both pretty nice, especially when you got them talking. Apparently, they have a happy day on Tuesday when the brewer plays saxophone. I plan to return to try more beer and perhaps hear some jazz. |
74 Good place. Had a flight of 6 of their beers for $16. All pretty decent. Bartender was very friendly and helpful. Would go back. |
76 A decent brewpub. The beers overall were slightly above average; but nothing really impressed me. Prices are a bit high, even by NYC standards. On my visit they had beers on keg and in bottle. I didn’t eat during my visit. As others have noted, this is a fairly ’upscale’ brewpub. If I lived in NYC I would probably come by now and then to try new beers, but if you’re visiting the city for only a few days there are other places worth hitting up before this one. |
76 2014-04-20. The restaurant has a diner meets fancy restaurant vibe to it, the diner part largely due to the way the bar fits into the space. It was pretty quiet when we were there so we had the pick of the seats and opted for a nice table by the window. We had a sampler flight of their beers and a delicious lunch that in hindsight was more food than we really needed. We probably could have shared my 10oz burger rather than Karen getting a Mac and Cheese as well. The green salad had a simple creamy vinaigrette dressing that was pretty awesome. Server was friendly and prompt and queried us about our beer crawl after seeing my map printouts and had some suggestions. The house beers ranged from dull to pretty good and we might have had more but were anticipating more down the road so we just had the sampler. A nice place and worth a stop if you are in the neighbourhood and hungry, but I’m not sure if the beer alone would bring me back frequently. [Looking at the ratings for their other beers after the fact I suspect we missed out on their best stuff, which is too bad.] |
82 This is a nice friendly place. Food very tasty. Smallish but interesting selection of their own beer. Would definitely go back when in the area. |
82 Nice little brewpub in the west village. The beers are very good...not great mind you...but very good. This place is certainly worth a stop if in the area or if doing a craft beer tour. The food on the other hand is great. I realize some people say this place is expensive...but I would suggest they are measuring this more against other brewpubs or craft beers bars in the city than against a pretty upscale restaurant in the west village that also makes its own beer (meaning this place stands on its own as a restaurant even if you don’t care much for beer). The atmosphere is very nice...and the desgin of the place very attractive. If you are concerned about price...just come for the beer...or come for lunch if you are eating too. |
84 Nice brewpub and restaurant with some excellent beers of their own on tap. Food is a bit fancy/expensive. Not your typical brewpub fare. Atmosphere is more of a wine bar than a beer bar but the beer is excellent so drink away. |
78 Popped in here for a quick lunch and to sample the lineup. I had been into the spot when the previous chef/brewer was operating the brewer but before they were actually selling stuff. This was my first time in since they’ve been legit though. The beer lineup was pretty impressive - six widely ranging styles, all of which were solid in quality. A good looking place with good looking staff. The people working the bar knew the product as well, which is always nice to see. Had a sandwich and a salad and both were very tasty. Not a lot of complaints about the place. |
78 Visited May 2012.
I looked at the website and then at the listing here and was excited by how many different beers they had and the fact that there were some pretty interesting styles represented. Then I arrived and saw the prices. Holy crap. Unfortunately the beers weren’t that great but besides that the place was pretty cool. Very hip, fairly upscale, and despite all that the servers were nice. If I was local I’d probably stop in regularly to try a bottle of something but I can’t see myself eating here all the time given the prices. |
