A couple of visits over the years, most recently in the fall of 2014. I personally absolutely love the slight-above-dive ambiance and the massive amounts of clutter on the walls and bar - almost detritus. As others have mentioned, not a huge or spectacular tap list generally although given how good the top-level brewing is in WI-MN-IA-IL these days, you could get something pretty special; I had a NG Belgian Red on tap and a bottle of an older (and I believe discontinued at the time) NG beer on my most recent visit, pretty sure my brother had a Surly. Haven’t tried the food except for the cheese curds which were above average. Some of the bottles do seem overpriced, some don’t - best to have an idea of typical pricing in the area before you start shelling out a lot on the more expensive stuff.

I’ve been here twice now. A short draft list (maybe 10 or 12?), considering some of the places we have in the Twin Cities. Big bottle list (which seemed fairly overpriced - they wanted $21 for a bomber of TG that at Woodman’s was $7.50, probably most were not so inflated). Solid bar food, slightly unusual for the area. Cool decor. Nice comfy bar area.

A typical "Wisconsin" feel to this bar in downtown Lacrosse. Doesn’t appear to have been updated in ages. Bartender was friendly though has to be asked multiple times for water. Tap list was solid but not outstanding, however a great bottle list is available. Sandwiches were solid for bar food and prices were nice. A cool little place.

Great litle place. Not all taps are as interesting as others, but there’s a few beers worth trying

Located in downtown on what seems like a main downtown street. I found parking on a nearby side street although it was more generous since it was a Sunday. Place wasn’t terribly crowded which was good since they only had one guy working. The interior, especially the bar, was well worn and faded which added a intimacy The tap list, with the exception of the new glarus offerings, was solid but nit spectacular. The bottle list on the other hand was full of Mikkellers, southern Tiers, Stillwater,, and even a Three Floyd’s. they stored the beer in this large copper pot which contained these massive lazy Susan’s. It does make an impression. I also like how they were the beer at something close to cellar temperatures so you can really taste it. I didn’t see too much of a college crowd but then again you’re not likely to see one on a summer Sunday. All in all it was a pretty good hang.

Simple bar atmosphere, bunch of regulars, and a 400+ bottle cellar. Not the place to go for that rare Cantillon, but their list is almost guaranteed to have something you would like to try. Prices are pretty good for the midwestern "locals," a bit steep on many of the other bottles. 25% discount for carry out.

A favorite stop in La Crosse. Decent number of handles, and an extensive bottle list. Food is good, with daily specials. Service can be spotty.

Originally reviewed: 12/30/09. Stopped by here with some friends when I was in town for the holidays. Grabbed a table and sampled some of the brews. Freaking stellar selection! They had 14 taps, all of which were quality brews; they also had several hundred bottles available. One cool thing at this place was this wheel on the wall that you could spin to select a certain number that corresponded to a certain beer. Kind of a fun way to try the many beers available as you never know what you are going to get. I got two of their newer offerings, the NG Unplugged Cran-bic and Lake Louie’s IPA, both great beers. If I was around here more often, I would hit this place up all the time. I wish my town had a place like this. Highly recommend you stop by.

Walk into a bar, pay $3.25 to spin a wheel, receive a glass of delicious craft beer. That’s how this place operates. Best bar in LAX by a long shot.

Pretty neat place downtown La Crosse. Inside bar feel is decent, but a little beat up. Sandwiches/appetizers served next door in a little deli. Nice to bring over to the bar. Tap selection is usually pretty solid with an additional great bottle list. Some bartenders are very knowledgeable, others not. Always friendly.
