This looks and feels like any generic Vancouver bar (not a good thing!), but the tap list is definitely above average, prices are reasonable, there’s a weekly cask night and as far as I can tell, it’s the only decent craft beer bar in Kits. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.

There is a good selection of craft beers and some rotation; cask night once a week. Possibly the best selection of tap beers in this part of the town.

Darby’s has been around a while, but has rebranded itself as having the West Side’s best/largest beer selection and their claim is holding up given their tap list is keeping up with the times, has a locivore focus (anything that isn’t from lower mainland is either Cascadian or Canadian). Selection better (more extensive and quality) than August Jack’s on Arbutus/4th. Service better than expected for a place like this, fairly attentive. However, the atmosphere in Darby’s is lousy. The lighting is cheap and would make Angelina Jolie look ugly. Acoustics notably nasty so the noise level in the room is grating on the ears, rather than having a fun boisterous feel. Feels like a frathouse, which is not surprising. It’s not my favorite neighborhood in general but I’m glad Kits has good beer finally.

Fairly standard bar with an above average (for Vancouver) beer list. Food is your standard pub fare, service is friendly and the prices are average. Good place to stop if you want a good local micro and a burger.

My go-to neighbourhood pub. Great service, friendly staff and regular customers. Pretty decent selection of always rotating taps. For the number of taps, they leave a good mix of stuff that is appealing to all beer lovers, while supporting local craft breweries. They provide CAMRA Vancouver membership discounts on all craft beer. Food has been tasty when I’ve had it. Serve 16oz sleeves or full 20oz pints. Great uncovered rooftop patio. Location is excellent for public transit. Update: they recently increased their tap lines. Everything holds true as stated above. A couple macros still, but expanded to 30 taps total. They take suggestions of what to bring in, in person or on the Facebook. This place is only getting better, and easily the best non-douche beer bar in kits. Plus they have new food creations that deviate from traditional bar stuff. If their food is more expensive, it’s because it actually tastes good, and not conforming to dulled drunken taste buds.
