I’ve walked by this place numerous times, but never went in because it always gave off douchebag, over-aged frat guy vibes; mostly because those types would be spilling out onto the sidewalk for their group cigarette breaks. One day, when it didn’t feel like those vibes were particularly strong (i.e. I could see empty bar stools through the window), I decided to give it a whirl. Bottom line, it’s basically an industrial vibe sports bar with a good beer selection and burger / pizza options for food. Probably not a place I would frequent, or try to visit when it’s busy (especially with Jerry’s just across the street), but it’s worth stopping by in those quite hours between sporting events, if for no other reason than to see what they’re tapping; although I did notice quite a trend-following large numbers of IPAs on their list when I was kinda hoping they’d be into their stouts and porters as the weather was turning. The food wasn’t too bad either, I decided to go "off-script" and try their wood fired chicken, which wasn’t too bad a gamble. The staff was friendly and prompt too, but I couldn’t say they’re necessarily beer savvy. You’re definitely paying city prices.

Can you say price gouging? Can you say trendy wannabes? These guys aren’t passionate beer dorks. They just built a beer place because it’s "cool" right now. FatPour is NOT for the kind of people who read this site. I have too much respect for you - the person reading this - to send you there. And you know what? They’ll probably never read this, so I don’t even feel guilty saying so. You guys want to know something? Their "keg cooler" on display by the stairwell is FAKE. I’m disgusted.

Went on a random Wednesday night for dinner and beers. List is large, but had lots of things I had either had or wasn’t interested in. Not that much variety in terms of styles so I ended up having two things I had had before out of the 3 beers I had. Got a steak salad for dinner which was OK. Friend had a burger that looked pretty good. Can’t comment too much on servers/bartender’s knowledge because I didn’t ask any questions. Will probably go back but IMHO there are better beer destinations down the street in Jerry’s and Bangers & Lace even though their lists aren’t as LONG as fatpour’s.

Somehow this opened up last month completely under our radar. In the upscaling West Town neighborhood just north of the United Center (I know it’s upscaling because on the stoop of the empty building next door, someone left an empty Unibroue gift box instead of a paper bag of 20/20). We site says their "FotPour" is a 22 oz mug. FROZEN mug. I was there for a party for Omission, and they gave me bottles and a regular shaker, though. Stairwell to second floor wraps around a see-though keg cooler. Still plenty of BMC (it is posing as a Badger bar, after all), and there are tables with their own taps of Bud Light and 312, but also lots of labels like ATG, Brooklyn, Stone, 5 Rabbit, Evil Twin, and plenty of Belgians on tap, too. Prices ranged from $5 for the Bud family to $60 for a pour of Malheur or Bruery. This was a gluten-free event for which they had buffet dishes, including meaty Buffalo chicken wings, and a damn fine mac and cheese with pork butt, using GF pasta. I wasn’t there on a "typical" night, but this seems like a good place to watch for.
