Nice place within close walking distance of the riverfront. Has a sort of patio that was covered up with smokers on my two visits, so I went right on inside. First floor, front area has a small bar area and is noisy as hell with lots of acoustical problems, since the place seems to be always crowded. But if you want to explore further (and sit at a table where you will be constantly harangued about ordering food) the place is kind of a labyrinth with multi-levels spreading to the back and gets less noisy. The service was good and efficient, if hurried and undistinguished on my two visits. I was with a party of four on two different nights and we ordered different appetizers and entrees. They were all good and cheap, but not worth seeking out if you have another food destination in mind. The beers were above average and that’s really the best reason to go here. Value is awesome with $4 pints and half pour and samples also available at great prices.
Been here numbers of times. Great place to visit. Food has always been really good. Beer is also very good to great and they do nice flights of their stuff. Can get a little crowded, but worth a visit if you are anywhere within about 75 miles or so.
We have dinner here just about every week. Service is generally terrific, can always find something to suit what I’m hungry for. I almost never drink the flagships when I’m there, always go with the small batch brews.
On a hot day...in a cool town...a welcoming respite from our travels from KC to OKC. The venue is special...sat upstairs with a nice view down onto the bar. Would have liked to have sat outside...but even in the shade...like I said...hot day!. The beers were very good...tried all of them. They brought us 13 different ones...only problem...they mixed them all up...which was particularly annoying given a few were only slight variations of others. After pointing that out...they gave us a whole new set of 13...now that’s the right way to do things! My favorite was the Cloud Hopper Imperial IPA. The food was very good and I highly recommend having a meal with their beers. This place is a must visit when passing anywhere near Lawrence, KS.
Been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. You can sample all their beers in ~5oz pours for a decent price. They often have beer specials for cheap. Their food is excellent. I normally have their special, because they try some interesting dishes. Great place!
One of my favorite brewpub! Small bar that you have to kind of fight to get a seat at and a few rooms with dining seating. A really nice selection of beers on tap and available for growlers. Food is quite delicious and well priced. This is a must stop if you are anywhere near by!

Perhaps not the largest selection and was only able to sample a couple of beers, but really enjoyed the atmosphere. Old guys like myself looking thlike they were regulars having a great time and families out for dinner and a beer and college types coming in from playing hard for the relief of a beer. My server was on her last day and her mistake of giving me the wrong beer meant it was comped and that I got the beer I ordered in the end. And the meal my daughter and I got = both pretty darn good
Free State is has enjoyable but very typical restaurant/brewpub ambiance. They were slammed on a Monday afternoon, strangely enough. They had about 10 different taps available in pints and 10 oz. pours. I tried an IPA and their hoppy amber and both were fair. Free State was a good place to unwind for a minute, but I wasn’t thrilled with it like some of the breweries we visited the previous day in St. Louis.
Large, college town brewpub. Drab, outdated interior. A maze of seating rooms. Outdated menu and plating with average to disappointing food. Server was quirky, but quite attentive. A bit awkward to chat with. Many house beers on tap with okay variety. Beer quality though was average. Overall disappointing. Very cheap flights served in skinny flutes. I can’t say this is a brewpub I would go out of my way for. All of their top rated beers have been a major letdown so I think I’m giving up on this brewery.
