Visited on 18th February 2017. A green and white tiled exterior which looks superb entices you into this place, inside it’s a maze of little rooms, nooks and crannies around a triangular central bar area. Décor is traditional and looks old but is fine. Only 2 handpulls, Wainwright and a Theakston beer so nothing inspiring, lots of local eating the food which looked good. Service OK, prices decent . Go for a look in the pub but not the beer.

Old style British boozer that refused to get swamped up by the modern shopping centre behind it. Much more welcoming inside than it may look on the exterior. Turn right for the small bar area and left for the best room, which is more of a collection of rooms so there are plenty of choices for where to sit. Friendly staff with a few ales to choose from as well as the usual lagers from a central serving area. Decor has a Victorian feel in places but more modern traditional towards the back. No satellite television but the bar area shows terrestrial broadcast football when it is on, although there isn’t much room in this part of the pub. Has wifi that worked well.
