Smallish place with an L shaped wrap around bar. Pleasantly crowded. Nine beers with sampler trays on offer. Staff and regulars were very friendly and knowledgeable about not only the beers, but also the beer scene state wide. Beers were tasty. Oh, and the bartender gave me a fresh plum, extra point for service. I canít count that as points for Food, though, because not everyone got a plum, just me. Great place.
Went in the early afternoon during the week. 9 beers on tap. Small crowd, new age type instrumental music on. Great service. Lot more lively at night. If you want to tick go early as flights are cheap.
A beat-up old warrior, pioneer to the Missoula independent brewing scene. Itís in a cool corner of town, with great bakeries nearby and hip-hop and house music booming on the PA (at least thatís what boomed the other afternoon).
The floors are polished cement, the staff are reasonably polished professionals. The barstools are living out what must be their third lives, reincarnated from the scrap heap. The splits in the naugahyde are like backscratchers (beware, wearers of short shorts and short skirts).
The beers are exemplary. They are brewed with imagination and attention to detail, coming out clean and flavorful, often in formulations that are tricky to pull off. These guys do a great job, and, to celebrate, slap a punny cannabis-related name on seemingly every other beer they serve.
Thereís another, newer, glitzier K-Hole on 1st, and I didnít get to check that one out this trip. But Iíll definitely hit up the Myrtle Street branch again. If itís warm out, I think I will bring them a No-Pest Strip. The only real drag to this location is the persistently annoying insect life...but, in the establishmentís defense, itís been unseasonably warm out.
This place is always crazy packed. The bartenders donít really no much about the beer but I guess they are there to pour and not talk much. Awesome beers though. Fresh and old bongwater tasty.

walked in to a crowded, dark bar filled with friendly locals throwing back pints of fine ale on a cold winterís afternoon. sitting at the bar sipping a nitro IPA that honestly wasnít very good, I got a sense that this is one of the local places people take pride in. the walls seemed to be peeling, the bar, tables, chairs and decor seemed thrown together and people seemed comfortable and at home. noisy and boisterous crowd. fun times.
The setting was pretty unique (in a good way). Decent IPA Ė not overly impressed with any of their other offerings but some were passable. The ladies at the bar did not seem to be knowledgeable in what they were pouring Ė probably just college students on a part time job. Not sure Iíd bother going out of my way for this place but if I was in neighborhood maybeÖ
This has a more relaxed, local feel than the other Kettlehouse location, not to mention a much better beer selection. Loved the sample tray and the price. Very nice vibe in here. Been back a lot of times, this place is awesome, I love it. These guys are not afraid to experiment. They do a great coffee porter and I have had some bourbon barrel aged beers from them that were nice..... This place is the real deal. Always friendly and knowledgeable service, almost always a new beer or two to try. This is the best brewery in Missoula for experimental. Bayern puts up some solid beer too, as well as Big Sky.
This place is Missoula. If you are in Missoula, goto Kettle house and get a few pints,but not too many as this place is a brewery and must cut you off pretty early. Great place to meet for a drink before going out to drink or filling up growlers for the party back home.
