Visited here on Sunday the 26th. I’ve got some fairly fond memories of this place -- including a seminar for when I bought my house -- but those positives only managed to deflate me even more as I took stock of this location. First off, it’s dreary inside. You can tell that it was built in 1994 because there really hasn’t been much to bring the lodge feeling up to date. Second, the service is lax and it really seems like most people don’t want to be there. Admittedly this could be due to the dreary spring weather, but I find it hard to forgive when I’ve had so many better experiences. And the beer wasn’t particularly good and the food is both mediocre and overpriced. This was a massive disappointment, and I can’t see myself visiting again for a long time.

Really cool building. Feels like an old barn. 16 beers on tap. We tried 8, and they all seemed to have same hop profile and really lacking body. Didn’t try food.

Only good for getting a dozen rakes. Beers are mostly undrinkable. Flights available. Pretty large beer hall. Sandwich was decent.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon on November 2015. Large venue with communal benches around the huge bar area and tables for smaller groups heading back toward the Hawthorn entrance. Beer range hasn’t changed much but it’s still a decent range. Prices pretty good. Service was decent. Would go back.

Close by my hotel for the night so what Evs. Nice patio to soak in the weather and the sights. No body was inside on the glorious day. Small tap list. The IPA was suitable. Pizza smelled good, but I did not partake. When else would I have basically a free day in Portland with nothing else to do. Time to get some more place ticks.

First beer related stop after checking in to the hotel due to convenience. Big beer hall sort of place in East Portland. Not too far from places like Lardo and Potato Champion of you’re hungry. Old looking wood interior with lots of communal tables and some smaller ones as well.

They have a decent enough food menu and about a dozen beers on draft. We got a set of everything to try. Beer quality was sort of all over the map, but nothing really terrible. They had a few nice hoppy beers in particular.

You order everything at the bar, both food and beer. The food looked pretty good, but I didn’t eat, though a couple guys in our party did and they enjoyed it.

This is kind of an old school place and they don’t necessarily make anything super exciting, but mostly decent enough beers and pretty cheap.

Popped in here between a couple of other places. Big place, with plenty of their own beers at good prices. Their beers are maybe a bit less exciting. Think they had a couple on cask. Nice enough, but probably don’t need to go back there when there is so many other amazing places.

Solid place with good sandwiches at good prices. The beer, as always at their establishments is primarily their own, with nothing exceptional on the taplist. Their beers tend to be drinkable but same-y.

Pretty cool place. The odd thing was that I arrived around 10pm on Friday and I was literally the only person in this massive beer hall. I mean, alone except the occasional barkeep for an hour. WTF! It was bizarre. 13 beers, one guest tap. Fairly cheap. Lots of food, I just had some salsa. I should have ordered a slap to the face because I was pretty hammered after 13 huge samples (5 ounces maybe!). Good service. It would be perfect with a big party. Oddly, a huge bar with no chairs.

Large beer hall type bar, good selection of their own Brews. Friendly Staff.
