Came here for breakfast my time, happy to find they were still serving real breakfast when I showed up at 130PM. Food was solid, great hangover cure which I needed. The ham was a little overdone but everything else was great. Nice comfortable diner vibe. Bartender was awesome, giving me advice about the local area and randomly giving me samples of beer he thought I’d find interesting. And I did. Lots of good options on tap, including some less common stuff. The vibe went fantasticaly absurd when I was eating eggs and ham, drinking IPA, Rock Me Amadeus was playing and BBC America was showing me octopus mating habits on the television. I freaking love this place, and I would be here a ton if I were local.
Really nice coffee bar that features an expansive (and well curated!) tap list. In addition to the indoor coffee station and long bar, there’s an outdoor patio area that was getting plenty of use during my visit on a sunny Saturday at lunch time. The 30-40 taps had plenty of locals in addition to some limited and seasonal offerings from larger national players (Alesmith, Bells etc.). This place may not be known as a beer geek destination, but it appears to have one of the best tap lists in the neighborhood. Service was effervescent and high energy. Overall, a fun spot. Worth checking out.
Quick stop with jackl and evanlarkin for a revitalizing coffee (tasty) and a peek at their beer list (nice variety of local, regional, national stuff). Atmosphere is simultaneously a bar, with a long bar down one side, and a coffee house, with the coffee area on the opposite side complete with all the laptops you see at Starbucks mooching off the wifi. Didn’t try the food, but would return to do so.
Doing an Uptown tour and this was the first stop. Smaller place with a dozen or so on tap. Nothing special to note on tap, but have heard they do solid events. I just wasn’t really feeling this place tonight, but will need to come back and give it another shot.
I don’t make it here a lot, but I should more often. I know they have a lot of events. I’m usually impressed by their selection and always find something hard to find on tap. Service is very accomdating.
A cool combination bar and coffee shop that is also a restaurant. The front area contains seating and the coffee shop with a long bar in the more narrow part of the restaurant in the back. Servers were friendly and were able to offer up some suggestions. Selection was solid with all sorts of different beers on the taps. I didn’t try food on my visit. Prices were competitive. A solid bar but, in the competitive Minneapolis/St. Paul environment, not elite.
Muddy Waters is worth the stop in uptown as there will usually be something fairly unique on tap; they seem to have a good relationship with distributors despite the relatively short tap list. Sit at the bar and check the chalkboard, because the printed menus are often out of date and many options are only listed with the entirely useless "rotating" descriptor. The server might know, or might not. The bartender who is a locally famous rapper might be a cool dude, but he might know, or he might not. They do have the chalkboard though. The food quality is high - if crawling through the beer stops in lyn-lake, this is the place for dinner.
Very cute little place in what looks like a very happening area. Pretty good size beer list with lots of locals - although they were out of the first two I tried to order. Food menu looks good - some upscale (in a good way) apps and sandwiches with a few entrees. Service needs to be very improved though - besides being out of some beers on their "beer list", the waitress needs a serious attitude adjustment. I will definitely try to come back though and just hope for a different server!
Wow, this place is hipster central. Tight black clothes, thick rimmed glasses, and tattoos everywhere. The decor and the clientele made me feel like I was in San Francisco. Not that I really mind, just kind of a funny observation. The servers were really nice and even knew a thing or two about the beer they were serving. I had a glass of the Summit Saga IPA (meh) and Founders All Day IPA (awesome). Also ordered a plate of yucca fries which were good for what they are. Prices weren’t cheap but not terrible either. Good beer selection, would return. Also next door to Lyndale Tap House and across the street from Herkimer and Moto-i. Around the corner from Bryant Lake Bowl.
