70 Little cafe with a dozen or so beers on tap. Flights of 5 for $7 - what a steal. Food menu is mostly burgers and similar style pub food - lots of of vegetarian and vegan options. Service is solid and so are the beers. Worth stopping at. |
70 Updated review (again): Serving food again - primarily sandwiches. NOTE: Occasional one-offs/barrel aged beers (used to be more frequent but now much less common) that you can’t get them at main location. Good selection of their beers plus wine and liquors available; guest taps occasionally. If you just want a relaxed environment to drink New Albanian beers, this is the place to go - it’s way less crowded than the pizzeria, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. Growlers are $2 off on Wednesday. Also open on Sunday (other location is not open on Sunday). |
76 Last stop of the evening. This is definitely more of a taproom feel than the other location. Mostly the same beers (minus guest taps), although they did have a BA variant of Bonfire. Help was indeed helpful. I ordered a pine and enjoyed sitting at the bar for a while. |
78 I like this location ... a bit of an urban revival vibe on an almost residential street. It’s a small but comforting space with lots of a light. We tried two beers there, neither of which were great, but weren’t bad either. We ended up taking out a growler of what was actually a delicious brew. I’d go back. Brewery #689. |
76 Visited for dinner on a Wednesday evening. 10 or so New Albanian beers on draft including one cask, along with several 22 oz bombers for sale. 10 seats at an L shaped bar, along with seats throughout the room and on the outdoor patio. The weather was great the night I visited, so the garage doors upfront were open letting fresh air. I had the Pork Tacos, they were fine, though overly greasy. The crowd was very friendly, and the service was attentive. I really enjoyed the open design of the bar, and always enjoy the New Albanian beers. I probably prefer the other location, though if the weather is good, this is a better choice. 76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
90 Visited on a weekday afternoon. The crowd was fairly small, with a few older gentleman at the bar that seemed like regulars. The service was good. I ordered a couple flights. Their beers were excellent, with a couple being above average. Only the Hoosier Daddy was below average. The vibe seems very cool here, and I suspect a visit during warmer weather would be much better given the large indoor/outdoor spaces and garage doors. We had the brussel sprouts and frites, which were both awesome. I highly recommend this place. Of note, since I could not decide on one, we also visited the Pizzeria and Public House, which was a completely different experience that I also recommend. The pizzeria and public house are more suburban. If you have time, visit both locations. |
76 Visited here with my wife on our way to St. Louis on a Friday at 6. We sat at the bar. The bartender was a little surly at first but then got nicer as time went on. The place seemed well-staffed, but they take a little time to get to you. I like the menu selections here a lot; my Mediterranean Plate left a little to be desired but my wife’s burger was great. Nice tap selection, with all in-house stuff. I counted about a dozen things right now. The beers were very good, too. I didn’t realize this was not the original location, just assuming it would be downtown. So I have to check out the other one next time. But this is still a a very worthwhile place to visit. |
92 I don’t know which New Albanian location I enjoy more...this location is in downtown New Albany. There is a small bar, some indoor tables, and an outdoor patio. On Sundays, they have a special brunch which is awesome (the food is top notch!) and also a bloody mary bar. At this location they only serve their house beers - they’ve got about 8 regulars (which do rotate somewhat) and up to 5 or so "seasonals". Obviously there is a tremendous selection. I wish this place was closer to me because I’d come back every Sunday if I could. |
78 Small place, full of tables as if it were a restaurant, but few people were eating when I was there. Bar was full of friendly locals, most table occupied by folks sharing tasting samplers, available five or seven beers at a time. About half of the beers were ones that weren’t available at the other location, so it’s worth trying both. Although I liked the other location better, I enjoyed this place too. |
74 Went here on a day trip with my wife and enjoyed ourselves. Good draft lineup, and the food was good as well (although a little overpriced). Nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly, but they didn’t know shit about beer (good thing I do). Still, enjoyed ourselves. a nice brewhouse that’s worth checking out, but I’ll probably visit the other location next time (which, to our disappointment, doesn’t open until 3:00 on the weekend). |
