9PM on a Saturday night last weekend of May 2016. Good crowd going but we managed to get a table. 20+ beers on tap, but they do offer halves. I didn’t ask about samplers. Case full of sausages, lots of options including some veggie sausages. Most of the sausages were around the $7 mark, come with some toppings and were quite tasty. Also got some pickled eggs because, well, pickled eggs. Service was pretty quick even with the big crowed. Food was good, beers were good. Seems like it would be a nice local hangout, though I can’t imagine there’s a lot of locals living this close to the convetion center. If you’re already here it’s probably worth stopping in.

It’s not fancy, but it’s not trying to be. Many taps and friendly servers along with interesting basket dishes including sausages make for a fun time in a part of downtown San Jose that just can’t keep its businesses going. Light rail drops you at its doorstep and whisks you away allowing you to enjoy all you want.

In the downtown. Long thin bar, high brick walls to one side, a few serving points on the other. 20 taps on, but they are constantly changing, standard bar food. Very cheerful and friendly staff, prices seem standard.

Right in the middle of what seems to be a main drag in downtown San Jose...which admittedly is much more happening than I remember from my visits down there as a kid.

There are a number of tables here and not much of an actual bar to sit at. They also have some typical bar food like sausages, fries, and sandwiches. Tap list is listed up on a large screen, so no guessing what they’ve got on.

Tap list is pretty good, though nothing amazing. I opted for one of the Faction 2 Hop pale ales that I hadn’t tried yet. Seems like they get a pretty good selection overall, though.

Decent place to grab some Alpine beers and some unique brats. Small area inside with a sports big screen. Nice back patio outdoor area. If you’ve got $40 to spend there are some good bomber bottles to go for. Speedway stout was also on tap. 4 different firestone walkers.

Alpine Nelson among other dankness on tap. Chill brahs working there who know their beer. First establishment review in years but was needed after seeing 3 stars. Bottle highlights were multiple crooked staves, upright, and other great shit. Outdoor seating is perfect for a sunny afternoon in South Bay.

This is a small bar (without much of a bar ironically) right on 1st across the street from Good Karma and around the corner from Gordon Biersch. Nice area full of shops, a trolley, and no parking anywhere. They have a couple dozen taps and some bottles in addition to sausages. Sounds like a good place. The selection however isn’t as good as it is across the street. The service was very friendly and sent me off with a take out menu. They have some good stuff on tap like Celebration Ale, Anchor Our Special Ale, some Bruery beers, and Drakes Jolly Rodger, but I didn’t see anything that would make travel across the peninsula. That said I guess these guys host some bottle shares and again, they have sausage, so I’ll probably stop back in at some point. Prices were high, as one might expect from a beer bar in a big city.
